Surley Simpkin gets a crack next week , a chance too debut in his home state in front of family and friends

Simpkin is a long way off being ready for first grade. Still a kid.

He'll get his turn next year.

What makes you say that Willow? To me he still looks way too small for NRL, still a kid and doesnt have the size or fitness (especially with no gametime this year) to survive at this level.

I also dont see the need with Grant & Liddle smashing it.

It is highly ulikely that Grant will be here next year.

So we throw Simpkin in before he is ready? Why not give him 6 months and another preseason? He is not physically ready and there is zero need.

@willow was talking about him having a run next year not next week?

Wow.......and he wrote in english and I still misinterpreted it. Sorry @willow. Agreed, next year after a strong preseason, he should be slowly brought in

I agree with you though, I'd leave both Madden and Simpkins until next year. One of the reasons Grant has been a revelation this year is the time he spent in the lower grade learning his game.

Have you seen Simpkin? I'll bet vital parts of my anatomy he makes his FG debut next year.

I’ve seen him up close and personal, while he’s not very tall he is not small at all, he’s very muscly and very stocky really good build for a hooker. Kid looks strong and will only get stronger

What the heck, just throw him and Madden on for the last 20 against the slimeys... give them a taste to wet the appetite for next year.

No way are they ready but at the least they’ll experience the level needed to compete in the top grade. Give them something to work towards during the long summer

Think it is a good idea to give youngsters a run in rthese nothing games, to both get a glimpse of what they can do and the benefit that the player gets from the step up in recognising what they have to do to compete there.

These games are not nothing games the team needs to cement down 9 th spot what are you talking about !

When Simpkin is ready for the top grade, going by all reports,it will be something sensational to see him and Jacob in the top 17 and killing it..
It will be nice to want to look forward to watching our team making the finals and being a huge threat at another premiership or 2...

Do you really think Jacob will kill it in first grade? If he fills out more and can stay injury-free he *may* have a chance. For now I don't think he's quite fast enough or a good enough passer.

Jacob has come off a long injury layoff...he will get much better next year with a healthy off season...have faith

You just listed his two best attributes as not good enough. He’s the fastest bloke at the club and his passing has been crisp, if anything his defence and kicking needs work.

He's what over 90kgs now and his passing from dh gets our forwards moving forward. He's also very quick,

Liddle has all the physical attributes to be a great player. I think his passing game and speed are better than Grant. Grant though has that footy nous and Liddle hasn't shown he has that yet.

I think a lot of people have forgotten what a great player Liddle is, personally I think he has more to offer the club then Grant it’s just unfortunate for Jacob injuries have held him back.

I hope Liddle is watching how involved Harry is and trying to emulate that when he plays. Both have good skills but Harry works so hard and reads the game so well it’s what makes him great

Nothing wrong with Liddle's speed or passing game, which is excellent.

he has lost a bit of speed

but thats only due to his injury, which im sure in due time will properly heal and his speed will return
