He is one of those forwards that will get better as he ages .needs to be kept

Many will be surprised but IMO Sione has the highest ceiling of all our middles, Pole included. His footwork at the line is Fonua Blake like, he holds his feet in contact and gets offloads away. His attack is as promising as anyone. Defensively I was concerned early on. The first part of the season you couldn't have him and Pole on at the same time, but Sione's defence improved significantly as the season went on. It really impressed me.

We have to sign this guy, he could be anything. If we can get the same improvement on Pole's defence, we have the makings of a dynamic front row pairing.

My suspicion is we will keep trying to free up spots over the next 3/4 months into January and that Sione will take one.

Barring that though, I don't think it's a huge cause for concern, we could always sign him to a T&T for 25 and top 30 for '26 and/or' 27. Any shortfall in salary could be made up over the rest of the contract (not that it would be much, I think his next contract would and should be quite modest).

That would be worst case, but, given that he's an NRL rookie, fringe first grader and has a fair incentive to stay, that could be an option we look at, given the lack of space in the squad for next year right now.

I am sure that the club has been doing it's best to get his signature on a new contract,i can only assume the reluctance is from his manager trying to extract every last cent

As @BAGNF05 wrote above, two top 30 openings and a pair to fill them.

I expect that a deal has long been reached with Sione. As to whether that includes a top 30 spot for 2025 or a sundry deal where he moves there in 2026, reckon that we will find out at the earliest opportunity.
