Saw it reported in the press that he carried the toe injury into the game? That he hurt it in training a few days before Auckland? And that it was needled just so he could get out there?!. Playing with a needle in a mickey mouse 9s series?? I this is true surely heads must role. He is now out for 12 weeks. Who is running this club?

and which paper was this…..

:unamused:

I actually saw an interview with a Wests Tigers player which said he took the injury into the game and he required a needle to get out there. I cant remember if it was on fox or on the official site. I wouldn't make it up, the club has probably since taken down the interview. I will try and track it down, but again I couldn't believe what i was hearing.

Tedesco. Now i do remember. Good that someone can back me up. He said he had the toe injury during the week and it was needled up to get there cause he was desperate to play. WHat sort of professional club are we running when we make decisions like this?

Yeah if he had even a minor injury issue he should not have played… Sheez how dumb are our medical team?

dont know where that came from, but surely nowhere near 12 weeks for a broken toe? if it is 12 weeks you would think it was a meta tarsal or something worse?

Sirro wanted to play and the decision was made. No point crying about it now. It's done. Sirro will have plenty of time to regret his decision, if he does regret it at all.

He was tackled and his foot was pointing towards the ground…toes at the bottom, heel upright - vertical...a player landed on it...nowhere for it to go...a bit like Halataus injury.
Wouldve happened regardless

No I don't think that would be required. Although Tigers spin doctors might like it put that way.

Clearly he made the injury worse, a 3 month one. Maybe it was an unlucky tackle, however when the injury was pre existing i think it is a bad look for us. How anyone can defend a player taking a needle in a mickey mouse series is beyond me?

Even if the injury was going to be a 3 month one before he played (highly unlikely) would you have said oh who cares lets sent him out their anyway as he can't make it any worse?

So we go into a 9's tournament with no game plan and we throw caution to the wind and play a player that isn't 100% fit , oh dear and now pay the price.
I understand injuries will happen but to play someone that isn't 100% fit that supposedly needed needled up to take the field Is bad Management from the club, in my opinion

Injuries at training are also just part of the sport. Nofa was injured at training and withdrew from the 9's.
Every player has some sort of injury..the medical team make the call if he can carry it into a game.
Sirro injured his toe at training and I guess they did Xrays and everything came up clear. So he was allowed to play.
From my understanding Sirro has now broken a bone in the foot close to the toes. Possibly not the injury he carried into the game.
I doubt even the Wests Tigers would let someone play with a broken foot.

he needed a painkiller to play,so i don't see how he clearly made it worse.
while i'm no doctor,i am in surgery every week.
and 2 times a year i have surgery booked with nfl players.
after mini camps and end of season are the only times they can have the procedure done.when the tfcc is torn you deal with the pain,no further damage is done.it is already torn along with multiple ligaments.you have to deal with inflammation and nerve endings until you can have surgery.

the concern for me would be if any extra time was needed for the swelling to go down if surgery was required.
but i have no experience with toes, you obviously do,so you go get em.
