Site Time-outs (408 Error)

Hey guys,

Just apologising to anyone who tried accessing the site between 4:00pm and 4:30pm today (18 May). Our servers got absolutely hammered and resulted in the site choking up….

We have tripled the servers capacities due to this event, which should be plenty for the time being, but as the site gains popularity we may need to beef up the server again or possibly move to a bigger one.

Please consider becoming a [Forum Supporter](http://www.weststigersforum.com/supporter-scheme) to help us cover these costs and the longevity of the website…

We've no switched over to Google Ads too guys to try and get a bit of dollars coming in to cover the ever growing costs. If you do have any ad blocking software, please disable it for this website, we won't be displaying any ads that aren't family-friendly.

Why do we need to disable ad blocking software?

You don't need to… but the blocking software prevents the ads from showing which prevents any possible income for the site via impressions and click-thru's. At the current rate of growth on the website we are going to have to move to a dedicated server, which as it stands NONE of us can afford as they are VERY expensive. We are already running on a Semi-dedicated server.

The ads have also been limited and I have turned off all Dating Ads and Sex related ads to keep this place as family-friendly as possible. If you do see an inappropriate ad, please contact us immediately so we can remove it.

Also all the ads that appear will hopefully be relevant to the content on the page and may prove useful or interesting to some users.

If you wish to remove the ads, we won't prevent users from viewing the site using Ad-blocking software but instead become a Forum Supporter which will remove all ads shown on the site...

As you may have noticed, the site is running a little slow today.

Unfortunately it's a problem that is out of our control, but our hosts are working to fix it.
(For the techno savvy, another client on the server has come under a DDOS attack at a rate of 12,000 requests a second)
With any luck the site should be back to full speed some time tomorrow.

We are hoping to move to a dedicated server in time which will fix all of these problems! Sorry about the errors though guys…
