So who's still confident about 2011???

Hi Folks

With the injuries and poor form shown this year, there are many people on here predicting very little in terms of Tigers chances for the remainder of this year.

Am just wondering how many feel this way?

Being a "glass half full" type person, I can't bring myself to give up on the boys just yet. We have the bye next week, followed by the Eels, Cowgirls and the Rorters. We should be able to snare, say 6 points out of a possible 8 on offer over the next month which would put us well into the 8.

Adding the return of Benji, Lawrence, Lote, etc, we will be close to our top squad on the field sooner rather than later to take us into the semis.

I doubt we will make the top 8 but don't get me wrong im still rooting for the tigers but unless we don't get our spark back like we had last year i don't think were going to be going anywhere

too many injuries this year, forget depth, our depth wont do it for us. also with all the reported player movement for next year its added to our woes. i still hold hope though, anything is possible.

Well if the game just past wasn't crucial this one against Parra is . We need to fire now getting 7th or 8th is not acceptable Top 6 is crucial if we want to win the title Tigers would have to be at least 20 -1 for the Title .

tiges for ever very confident oh boy see the light its all dark they wont even make the eight how many more games do you need to see to see the light 2005 fluke last year scrapped into semis on ugly wins played their best footy in semis. but every other year have not made semis and add this one as well. we are garbage. ie see last night. 😕

Heh i stay confident until its mathematically impossible…..Im very confident we have players coming back at the right end of the season and we run 3rd last year and still in the 8 this year.

I wouldnt expect you to think any other way bigdamo ive read alot of your post.Dont go jumping on the wagon when we start winning a few and making a charge.

2009 parra made late run home finished 8th and made the grand final 2010 roosters 2011 who knows which team it will be but if we click it will be us.

I am very confident about 2011 still-
We have Benji, Lawrence, Tuqiri, Payten and Utai still to come back from injury.
Gibbs will be fired up as its his last year here and his last chance for a premiership.
Ellis and Galloway are in fantastic form, Heghno is also in great form.
Our defence has been fantastic the last prob 5 or 6 weeks since the 2nd half of the dragons game onwards but especially last week and this week.
McKinnon is solid enough and back up well which will suti our team once we have our players back.
The injuries have allowed some players to blossom like Ayshford and Woods.
Mitch brown played his best game all year aginst the dogs making lots of meters and finally getting involved
Ryan (and some might scoff) has been really good the last few weeks
Moltzen is looking better by the week

My 2 main concerns are
Lui - just hasnt looked anywhere near as good this year
Farah - Is solid but seems both distracted and injured (he was mentioned by the NSW Doctor as needing to be checked on in todays paper and that was before the game last night). I think Robbie needs to give up the captaincy .Despite this even playing injured Robbie is still better then anyone bar Cameron Smith and last night in a poor game by his standards he set up our only try and made 41 tackles. ok he missed 4 as well but Ennis missed 8 and was MOM

We can still do well this year.

We need Robbie and Benji to fire and Lawrence and Tuqiri back but if that happens our forwards are going forward and defending well.

Agree glebe_tiger about the injuries, all we need is some luck in this area and I'm very confident of making the 8\. Finish anywhere in the 8 and we'll give it a real shot. If injuries persist - hello 2012.

no iam not confident our teams do not look happy they dont play like they are happy is this caused by letting so many players go or buying blair there is something wrong when you hear robbie or benji talk there is somthing missing could it be sheens and humphries causing the trouble please hurry up and fix it up

We should still be in the 8 this week when the round is done and dusted - I don't think Melbourne will lose to the Warriors, and even if Newcastle win, we should be in 8th spot. I'm not all that concerned, and think we will win more than we will lose of the games left in the season, which will be enough to get us into the top 8.

Top 4 I think is gonskies though.

I just did the ladder predictor on the NRl website -

just put in what we are expected to win vs expected to lose, and then put 2 games against us.

then in the last two rounds put the teams nearest us against us in terms of results not going our way. (so i put us losing to the titans and the sharks, and had teams in 9th and 10th beating teams they probably wont beat)

and the final result?

8th.

Two points clear of the Newcastle Knights in 9th.

I'd take that on board as a worse case.

Using my ladder we'd have the first game of the finals against the Melbourne Storm. I could think of worse opponents for our boys to be taking on in the first round.

I don't want it to sound like sour grapes but the Bulldogs team we played last night were very ordinary. At the 20 minute mark at nil after all of the ball they had, it was aparant that we were one player away from winning last night. Benji. If we could have controlled our attack with Benji there, despite the form of others, we would have won. Imagine if we had Lote, Lawrence, Payten and Utai all available to us last night as well. The Bulldogs were basically full strength and should have racked up a big score against us. They have had two byes and and still have a negative for and against. If these are the teams we are competing with for a place in the 8, there are no reasons why we shouldn't be there.

Obviously we need all of these players available to do anything for the remainder of this year. Of all the teams looking for 6-8th place on the ladder, surely we can still make a charge with the players we will have available in the coming weeks. The bye comes at a great time for us. Our for and against is still in the positives (just), most other teams around us in the negatives.

I'm confident about our chances if the following happens. In the two weeks before the next game, the books are closed on players coming and going in 2012\. If Blair has signed, announce it officially. Tell us exactly who is staying at the Tigers rather than all of the storys and rumours about players being shopped around and talking to this club and that club when they have a contract at the Tigers. Get the St George game that can't be played at the SCG and move it to Campbelltown. Move Farah to half for the next game and beyond if it works.

The bye with players coming back gives us a chance to start again and really salvage something from this season which has been very disappointing so far.

Still hopeful for 2011

With a full strength side we can safely make the top 8.

where we go from there i dont know

I still get frustrated on how we exited in 2010

If only we didnt lose that ball after that big Dywer hit against roosters.. Could have changed EVERYTHING!

Although we seem to be having a pretty rough trot, I think we can still come good, but much improvement will be required.
Why is it that no one seems to back up runners in this team :crazy A good example of that was in the game against the Bulldogs, when Ellis had a bit of a break and was looking for backup and no one was there. We must keep the faith though 😛ray:

Certainly not confident anymore…just hopeful.

Too many injuries, played like crap for the majority of the year and attitude of some players is wrong.

Not giving up, still make what games I can but a lot has to change for us to even make the 8 let alone win the title.
