What do you say Chris? They were bloody hopeless.

If Mourinho doesn't turn this boat around I reckon it's safe to say he's finished.

Give us a break Chris :brick: :dead

I've been copping it for years by all and sundry during the Ferguson era. I'll never stop sticking it to United fans. If you dont like it, add me as a foe and you wont see my posts.

Swings and roundabouts, that's what banter is all about. Especially between two foe clubs.

Don't like it Ben, don't get involved.

I think Mourinho went about things the wrong way. He bought Pogba and Ibrahimovic and just assumed he'd get instant success. It doesnt work like that. You have to create culture and build the team. I wouldnt think he'll be finished this season, I think he'll argue he inherited this team and needs to build what he wants. Personally I think both Pogba and Ibrahimovic have been massive fails since arriving in the EPL. Sometimes players could be superstars in other leagues and when they come to the EPL, they just flop. They're biggest mistake was they didnt chase Klopp during his sabbatical. Ferguson didnt rate him and went for LVG instead. Im pretty confident when I say they will see a lot more lean years before they start to turn the corner. Now they're not playing CL, they'll find it hard to attract the top players.

Im going to make a bold prediction now which will have people laughing at me but dont be surprised they become a team that will be fighting relegation within 5 years.

Money talks in most cases. I don't think they will find it hard to attract the top talent, they have the money and the "history" for players to consider coming.
I agree with one thing you mentioned, creating culture and building the team is the essence of creating success. However, in saying that, name a manager that has come in and created that winning culture from the off? Guardiola started like a house on fire, but has quickly seen poor results, Fergie took a long time to create this culture and really looking at United these days, it's easy to see how good Fergie really was. Mourinho's biggest issue is he doesn't even know his best 11\. He thinks you can win championships playing the likes of Smalling and Fellaini, which was evident last night is not going to work. The like of Mata and Henrikh M out of the starting 11 is bemusing.
As a United fan, I was not expecting miracles this season. It was going to be ugly, and Mourinho really just wants wins and to get back to CL etc. A team with this much money and revenue from sponsorship (I mean they have official noodle sponsors for god sake) really needs to be doing alot better. It's not going to happen overnight espcially after last years snoozefest, however, if things don't change alarm bells will be ringing.

I don't think they'll go that far, I see them becoming a regular mid-table team if they don't fix things up though.

United have done that a fair bit though with their acquisitions. Di Maria, Falcao, Kagawa as well as Pogba and Zlatan. Walking in expecting them to perform miracles. I'm not so sure Mourinho is a manager you want to build a culture around either, he's a siege mentality type coach and is the most fevered ego at a club. His results speak for themselves, he's been rather successful but he's definitely a manager you bring in for short term success.

I think your spot on in your assessment Chris.

I watched them this morning and some pathetic errors from the Man U defence , Hazard was allowed to much time on the ball and dictate terms .
Smalling , Bailly and Blind were Pathetic for the Devils and Fellaini isn't the same player since his move from Everton.
What an unbelievable game from the Chelsea Goalie Courtois….some World class saves , the double stop he did in the 27th minute against Lingard was brilliant but the best one was his diving stop to deny Marcos Rojo strike was unreal that was pigeon bound from outside the box.

Zlatan is quickly finding out that he simply hasn't got the time and space like when he did in the French League , he needs more time to settle to the style the EPL offers , the service his getting from midfield is piss poor if you ask me .

The style Mourinho took to the Liverpool game was Pathetic , he could be Unemployed sooner rather than later.

I wish United would release Herrera back to Bilbao, we could do with him at the moment, he might have been the difference against Real this morning.

I think the problem for many players when they came to the EPL is that although they have massive games in their previous leagues the level of sides drops off pretty quickly when you get past the top 4-5 sides

The difference is that the EPL is pretty strong over about 12 clubs and if you don't show up , especially away from home you get beaten , or struggle for a point

Takes a while for players coming into the EPL to get used to that

West Ham have got our own flops in Simone Zaza , Gokhan Tore even Feghouli (I thought he might be another Payet level buy to be honest ) , why we went after them God only knows , they offer little

But then again you find those bargain basement gems , picking up Payet for under $10 million was just nuts

Sometimes too many chefs spoil the broth , maybe Man U has overloaded on the superstars or perhaps the wrong superstars

Time will tell I guess

Disagree with you Chris in regards to Man U becoming a bottom 5 side , when you have such a monetary advantage I think you'll always finish top half of the league Chelsea even managed to sneak into the Top 10 after a disastrous start to the season

I think United still have a strong team, probably on paper the second best in the league behind City. I think Mourinho is not using the team properly though. He's playing people out of position, and leaving talented players on the bench in place of average players.

That said, since Fergie retired, pretty much every high priced buy the club has made has flopped. I'd be concerned if I were a united fan about it. For every success (Mata, Martial) there are a lot of flops (Falcao, Depay, Mkhtirian, Schweinstiger, Di Maria, Fellaini, etc), and their youth squad has churned out some quality too (Lingaard, Rashford). They have a lot of incredibly talented players rotting on the bench or in the reserves too (Herrera & Sneiderlin are two that jump out). I think they need to give Jose the time they gave LVG but the aura of the club is gone. I wonder if they regret not flicking LVG earlier and making a play for Klopp.
