Should be able to knock over the Saudis. Korea and Japan are always difficult, and I can see Iran grinding a 1-0 out against us, our attack is weak. With a farcical 24 team tournament (do 16 or 32, I hate having odd numbers of teams go through the groups) the whole thing will be a crapshoot until the knock out rounds.

Should have nailed Thailand too, but we saw how that wound up.

We'd have to be one of the worst nations in the world at completing our chances

But that's the issue top quality strikers are born , not made

Players like Kewell and Cahill were fine against middle of the road sides but get shut down against top sides and a far more dangerous playing off a quality striker

Surely marrying a beautiful Australian girl , house on the harbour , and a stack of green from the FFA could entice a fourth or 5th ranked Brazilian or Argentinian striker to agree with Peter Allan and to call Australia home …....

Bloody hell I'd almost take Andy Carroll 😱pen_mouth:

Didn't Messi's grandfather live in Australia?

One of the Italian superstars from 80's/90's was an Australian , his hero was Allan Border , having a total mental blank

Answered my own question sorry CB Christian Vieri

49 games for Italy 23 goals

Wish we had a striker remotely that good

True, Juric is not clinical enough, McLaren is probably going to be easily contained at this level and nobody else really steps up. Apart from Cahill I have no faith in any of our guys to score at this level. Maybe one of our midfielders can step up with a goal or two (Luongo, Irvine, Rogic, Jedinak from a free kick, Leckie) but there's no one who is a reliable source of goals, especially if Cahill is left behind.

No EPL games this weekend, so please hold fire.

And here are some suggestions re the last rounds for your team selections (if this might help):

Wk 31 FA Cup
Wk 32 Wildcard
Wk 33 normal
Wk 34 Likely DGW Bench Boost
Wk 35 FA Cup Free Hit
Wk 36 Likely DGW Triple Captain

It’s been Gameweek 23 since there’s been a report on this league and so much has happened, like:

Gameweek 24 results were pretty close scores across the park, with Queens Patk Raisins being the highest individual team score that round (and giving some hints as to what was to follow).

Gameweek 25 was remarkable in that we had 2 (yes 2!!) absolute draws where Fibro’s and Benzaman da Tiger scored 64 each, while Bozo’s Ballers and MANS played out a 65 all tie as well!

Gameweek 26 – again the scores were pretty even with MANS beating Bon Vivant in the closest result by a solitary single point!

Gameweek 27 was one for the record books! Beijing Town defeated Aldinga Allstars by an amazing score of 134 to 67!! (Now 67 is not too shabby, but 134??? WOW!!

Gameweek 28 again saw relatively close results with MANS beating Laroche Lions by the single point (57-56) and Alldinga Allstars came back with a single point victory over Benzaman da Tiger 36-35.

Gameweek 29 saw tight games where Laroche Lions and Queens Park Raisins top scored with 63 points in their respective matches over Aldinga Allstars and Fibro’s.

Gameweek 30 was a round where most games had low scores, but Queens Park Raisins was out in front on a round high 68, followed by Tranquilo on 58 – after that all pretty tight results.

Gameweek 31 saw some definitive high scores in some lop sided results, where Queens Park Raisins had the round high win over Laroche Lions 102-67; Bon Vivant had a decisive win over Aldinga Allstars 79-21; Blamks United had a biggie over Benzaman da Tiger 82-33; Minto FC came over the top to account for Tranquilo 86-61; Fibro’s won well over Bozo’s Ballers 75-31; but in a remarkable result, MANS won 61-3 over Beijing Town.

And that means that our Wests Tigers Forum league table after Gameweek 31 looks like this:
ank Team & Manager Wins Draws Losses Score Pts
1 Blanks United
23 0 8 1850 69
2 Minto FC

19 0 12 1608 57
3 MANS

18 1 12 1697 55
4 Queens Park Raisins

16 0 15 1638 48
5 Fibro's

15 2 14 1678 47
6 Tranquilo

15 0 16 1698 45
7 Bon Vivant

15 0 16 1632 45
8 Benzeman da Tiger

14 1 16 1605 43
9 Laroche Lions

14 0 17 1626 42
10 Aldinga Allstars

13 0 18 1509 39
11 Bozo's Ballers

12 1 18 1600 37
12 Beijing Town

9 1 21 1487 28

With still 5 rounds to go (and maybe some selections chips and wildcards to go!! – Hint! Hint!), Blanks United looks solid out in front on 69 points; although Minto and MANS arte leading the following pack with oodles of unknowns still to unfold!

Remembering that the comp goes for 38 Gameweeks in total; so heaps of ups and downs (aka FUN!) to go for all of us.
Comparisons-wise, there are now all up 5,858,386 fantasy players in this comp world-wide.
Congrats therefore to everyone, look how good we’re measuring up - just keep it up!

Just try to remember, the big thing is to try and get your team research done reasonably early, with transfers etc done before the first game of every round to get the best chance of more points.

Good Luck to everyone in your trades (or not!).

Heads up - Gameweek 32 kicks off tonight - first game being at 10.30pm tonight (Saturday) local Sydney time - don't forget to fix teams if you have to.

West Ham on the verge of some special milestones

One defeat away from 1000 EPL loses

And if they lose by 3 or more they will become the first side in 50 years to lose 4 games in a row by 3 goals or more ( Forest in 1968 )

That's because we don't get relegated. Can't lose top flight games if you're not in the top flight.

Yeah but you get to play Spurs twice a season , that has to count for something

Annoys you that your team can play like that and be in the relegation battle

We were so confidant of winning we stuck Joe Hart in goals

Seems I was right , Masuaku was awesome last night along with Jao Mario the scoreline should have been 7-0

7 games left surely we can jag 6 points

Did anyone else watch last nights game in Women's Asian Cup between Australia v Japan

The last 6 minutes I've never seen anything like it

Australia had just equalized through Sam Kerr to get back to 1-1

Both sides had then qualified for the semis of the Asian Cup and the World Cup based on the 1-1 result

So when Japan kick off they pass the ball back to their back 4 and for the next 6 minutes the back 4 pass the ball between themselves and the Matildas just stood back and watched them

I'd hope something is done about it in the future , could almost reach a match fixing level …. not a pretty look for sport / football

What can you do though, it's like in the South American qualifiers for the World Cup, when Colombia were playing Peru on the last day, and Falcao was telling players on both sides to ride out the draw. Sure it's terrible to watch, but it's the smartest thing to do. Why risk losing the game and missing out on the next round when you don't need to. Comparing it to people who throw games for money is a little harsh.
