Soccer Super Thread

Volpato is a bit of a mercenary - pledges allegiance to Italy - they don't qualify for WC so he reneges and pledges for Australia. Italy's loss our gain i suppose.
I just reckon he was split . Also the Italians put a shit tonne of pressure young kids to all declare for them if they have a choice ie. play for us or you have no future in Italian football . But with thier mediocrity now in European football , and the fact he wasn’t picked despite this , they probably eased up on him .
I know Christian Vieri for example came real close to declaring for us . Ultimately he probably made the right choice and had a mad career , but yea apparently it was a hard choice for him .

What do you think TO, I reckon apart from injuries the best available ?
Interesting that Volpato in but assume he only made himself available with that guarantee already assured.
Go the Socceroos !

Champion @Halbrowne61, mate - it's the World Cup.
Every game is like a final and it's so good to see every player go for it.
Re team selections, like every sport, there's going to be "favourites."
I just trust the coach and "Green and Gold" all the way.
Can't wait.
I have a friend who is Italian - he's so upset about their missing out.
So enjoy the ride. ⚽️

𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: These are the 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐒 for the 2026 World Cup!

• THROW-IN COUNTDOWN (FIVE SECONDS): If a player deliberately delays the restart of play, the throw can be given to the opposition.
• GOAL-KICK COUNTDOWN (FIVE SECONDS): Also applies to deliberate attempts to run down the clock and can result in a corner being awarded.
• TIME-LIMITED SUBSTITUTIONS (10 SECONDS): Substituted players have 10 seconds to leave the field at the nearest point. If they fail to do so, the substitute cannot enter the field for at least one minute and the team must continue with 10 players.
• OFF-FIELD TREATMENT (ONE MINUTE): Players who are treated by the physio must stay off the field for 60 seconds. There are some exceptions, including for goalkeepers, injuries and if the opponent is booked or sent off.
• PLAYERS COVERING THEIR MOUTHS: Any player covering their mouth in a confrontational situation with an opponent may be sanctioned with a RED CARD.
🤐

• CORNERS CAN BE CHECKED: VAR can make sure that a corner has been correctly awarded, but this must be done quickly and before the restart.
• SECOND YELLOWS CAN BE REVIEWED: Players sent off for two cautions can have the second booking checked, but there will be no reviews for potential second yellows.
