Victorian metro side Swinburne FC announced their reserves will forfeit their game on Sunday so they can watch Australia's opening World Cup match against Türkiye.
“While we acknowledge that fixture scheduling is a complex undertaking, we remain steadfast in our belief that no football should be played at the same time as the Socceroos at a FIFA World Cup.
“The Reserves squad will instead be reporting for national service at various pubs, lounge rooms and sports bars across Melbourne.”

Seen there was 3 red cards in the Mexico v South Africa game .. for comparison there was only 4 red cards for the entire tournament in 2022
