Something I'd Like To Know

Err
Watmough got the tap on the shoulder and said ok.
Foran got the tap on the shoulder and said ok.

That's $1.5M saved right there, plus the Eels made a $150K termination payment to Foran that was not counted to the cap.

So they are better at offloading their weight and hoodwinking the NRL into giving them special allowances, to settle quickly.

What Tigers really should have done, and this is not tongue-in-cheek but learned from experience, is fully rort the salary cap and keep Farah on the books at the same time. As in sign another $1M +worth of talent and try to hide it. Then when it finally comes out in the press, which it always does, it's such an enormous clusterF that the NRL will do anything to quiet it down quickly a la Eels or Storm.

At which time you make a few judicious termination payments, cut a few players you didn't like anyway, retain your best players, then install new management and move on.

Because in all seriousness, Tigers tried to move Farah on and it was a 2-year saga that got dragged back and forth in the media. Eels totally screwed Nathan Peats and it barely rated for a few weeks, because club and player moved on, and it all got drowned out in the overall Eels saga anyway.

Love your way of thinking…

I always thought the Tigers shouldve photoshopped a picture of Farah having simulated sex with a puppy, but your way is heaps better.

Cheers

Love it,
I think the Photoshopping would have worked a treat.

I think the last 5 years we have put to much focus on talent in the under 20's coming through and junior talent thinking that they will be something that there not.

How many players that have made there debuts the last 5 years have really kicked on and been outstanding 1st Graders for us? I can think of Tedesco, Sue and Woods. Moses is finally finding his feet but just needs to do it consistently week to week.

Due to Salary Cap issues obviously we've had to rely more on juniors and persist with our investment in them.
Hopefully when we get our books in order we can attract proven 1st Graders that are on the Market.

Bugger the Loyalty crap.

I would be curious to know the number of Keebra Park kids that make it with us. Some shine in the 20's but how many actually come through to firsts?

can't we do the same with farah? terminate the contract and pay him the rest under the table? i mean it has to come out one way or another- might as well go outside the cap

i agree with KS, our salary cap is a mess due to backloaded contracts of average player whose market value decrease when they play for us.

We don't cheat very well…

Ha! neither did Parra.

Clearly the TPA's are a sham and it is plainly obvious that clubs like Broncos and Roosters etc are able to exploit the salary cap loopholes and/or effectively deceive the NRL.
In my opinion it is not that they cheat openly with the consent of the NRL (too
scandalous to imagine) but have a methodology which the NRL turns a blind eye to.

So, why don't we (as well as other clubs that "make up the numbers") use the same methodology? If you can't beat em, join em!

In this sense it is hardly a stretch to accuse our management of being apathetic. Recklessly apathetic. Unacceptably apathetic.

I see a resolution needed immediately:
(1) hire advisors/recruiters/accountants/managers/ that have been at Roosters, Broncos etc. Then, copy their practices and recruit with newfound liberty. If a whistle is blown on our otherwise "permissible" arrangements then we will have leverage: personnel who contain insight into other clubs and can thwart threats by justifying actions but also capable of lifting the lid off the whole salary cap debacle and other NRL hypocrisy.
(2) recruit leaders who are responsible for creating great team culture (see Storm, Swans etc)
(3) tell a story to potential player recruits that is inspiring, achievable and career defining
(4) hire a coach that quality players will want to play for
(5) for chrissakes get a bloody goal-kicker!

If you honestly believe every think the Tigers say you are a Dam Fool they blame the people before them but they have had good time in there jobs now how many more years are people going to let them blame the people before them

SHEENS just has Chris Lawrence contract finally finish this year its been renegotiation for next …......most players contracted to the club signed last year or this year under the current board and alot under the current CEO and Taylor
\
\
So how the frig people buy into this B/S about old salary cap problems are beyond me when there mite Be no contract that they did not have a hand in at the Tigers

Based on this would it be fair to say that JT has the team he wanted for next year?
Majority of the team has been signed under the current administration and that teddy, woods, nof, moses by the previous one but this one would have signed. So that really only leaves Brooks, sirro, simona and lawarence, thats 4 out of the above group.

If so then no excuses for a bad year and all credit to him if they do well.

True for sure.

But i want a ferrari and can only afford a hyundai. Even if he had all the cap available to him he still would only have a choice from whats available.

I hate when they keep talking about the other guys before them they have said it just move on

Parra are a wealthy Club with a huge fan base.We have no TPA's. The club is not really financial and we spend the least of every NRL club on the Football Department even GC and Newcastle. No major players will sign with us as the coaching, facilities and setup is below any club in the NRL. This is why we have to build and retain from within. Some may want to get rid of juniors like Brooks but the reality is we will likely attract Jeff Robson. This is why we pay overs for juniors and have done so for many years. Hopefully we can fix up the boardroom and off field situation as it alone is the reason we have been to the finals three times in our history. Not coaching or any other reason it is CASH.

Been said on here a few times Harrys kicks In about $1 million a year TPA's but I always go back to what the Canberra recruitment guy said about two years ago when he was talking about East he said if Canberra want to buy the current East team it would cost Canberra $11 million to recruit

I reckon the Raider's recruitment over the past couple of years is the best I've seen. They have assembled a squad that is capable of winning the comp and they haven't broken the bank.

WOW, didn't know Harry was throwing in $1m . Do we know how many players that is for and who.
Pity he can't persuade some of his contractors to throw in some in as well.
