The word thug is a race baiting term. If you don't mean anything racial by it just don't use it. Simple. You can google as much information on the subject as you want te educate yourself. The connotation is what it is and if you don't want to come across racially insensitive just don't use the term. There is no need to come out swinging when someone merely attempts to clue you in that the term has racial connotation.

I would have thought on a forum where people get banned for mild swears that this sentiment would get more support. Particularly given we support a club that is branding itself as inclusive to indigenous people.

My only problem with your post is in the first sentence. When you say a word IS something what does that mean? Does it have that meaning and several others? Or is it mutually exclusive with all other meanings? **Or does it have that meaning when applied in a certain context, which in guessing is what you mean here.**

However, that word is a reasonable English word to describe Latrell Mitchell on the field, perhaps the single best word that won't get you banned here. So while I do appreciate the extra context you provide, and will be more careful how I use that word, I disagree that anyone has used the word with even the slightest implication or Latrell being reprehensible because of his race, only for his actions.

It is overwhelmingly commonly used when describing black people. If Nathan Brown did this people would call him a grub. Black guy does it they're a thug.

**I've stated what I've stated on the subject I'm not going to preach to anyone.** Change or don't, the world is changing around us.

And yet you keep coming back with this nonsense. Ive spent over 50years on the planet and NEVER seen it used in that context. The Oxford dictionary doesnt recognise it but you point to one lefty critical race theory article and we should all change?

Your experience is not a reflection of 7 billion other peoples sir. You don't need to get upset at having your worldview challenged either. I am not asking you to do anything but reconsider the way using certain words in certain contexts make others feel. There is nothing to get upset by and no reason *to attack me f*or it. If you have any actual interest in trying to understand the lived experience of black people as opposed to just flatly refusing to accept my perspective on account of your own that's fine. But if you are actually interested in challenging yourself here are several links to click. Happy to discuss further if you are interested in a conversation rather than ***hurling insults at me.***

Firstly, please point out to me where I insulted you or attacked you? I simply havent.

Having said that, your perspective is completely condescending and incredibly arrogant making the direct assumption that I dont "accept your perspective" out of ignorance and that I should "challenge my worldview.

I read the original article that you posted supposedly to back up your opinion and I found that article to be incredibly offensive and outright racist. That article does not make the argument that the origin of the word thug is at all racist but is making the correlation that african americans have been associated with "thugs" so often that it is now synonymous with black people, by extension that blacks and "thugs" are seen as one and the same. That is a disgusting perpetuation of stereotypes and incredibly racist but it seems there is a shortage if self awareness in the leftist authoritarian world. I choose to have nothing to do with that. I am of the opinion that thugs are thugs. White thugs are thugs, black thugs are thugs and black people who are not thugs are not thugs.

Now I am not going to make the assumption that you are ignorant but this tactic for compelled speech is an element of Marxist critical race theory so there are two possibilities. Firstly you are "woke" to this reality and you are an active and willing participant in which case...good luck or secondly the other alternative is you are blindly "woke" and blindly following along in the good intentioned belief that you are playing your part in making the world a "better place" in which case...I'd suggest you do some research because you are their pawn.

By the way you are failing miserably in your efforts to "not **preach** to anyone"...then proceed to preach to me complete with ***ELEVEN*** reference links from such free thinking sites as Vox and Ebony.

In your efforts not to preach you need to ......*be better*......and *do the work.*

I sent you the links because you claimed that I found "the only article" or somesuch and you referred to me as a lefty which you intended as a slur.

If I say "hey cupcake" and you say "dude I know you're used to calling people cupcakes but culturally that is something that hurts and damages me", I would stop calling you a cupcake. I don't need the word cupcake. It's a word. It can go. If you are so desperate to keep your god given right to call a black man a thug then your priorities are misplaced or you simply don't care about black lived experiences. Either way good day to you.

Maybe in your world that is the case but in my world i call them a thug and i have never heard it used to racialy apply to anybody of any race.I am 68

Your age is not a reflection of how much empathy or tolerance you have.

I have a lot more empathy sympathy and tolerance than you could possibly imagine. You keep on living in your make believe world and i will continue living in the real world.THUG is not a racially derogative term.

Back on topic thanks - keep the race card out of this thread thanks. It has nothing to do with it.

I sent you the links because you claimed that I found "the only article" or somesuch and you referred to me as a lefty which you intended as a slur.

Comprehension is clearly not your strength. I did not refer to you as a lefty, I referred to the article as a lefty article, but you keep going putting the imaginary words you dream up to make your argument in my mouth at the same time deciding which actual words I can use in reality.

If I say "hey cupcake" and you say "dude I know you're used to calling people cupcakes but culturally that is something that hurts and damages me", I would stop calling you a cupcake. I don't need the word cupcake. It's a word. It can go.

If I was behaving like whatever the hell a cupcake does, I would expect to be called a cupcake. I would not compel others to behave based on my narrow mindset when the word has no actual derogatory meaning.

I would never call a black person the N word, because that word has ACTUAL racist meaning and a history of use. Thug has ZERO racist origin and has been used historically for people of all colour based on their behaviour. A black thug SHOULD be called a thug if he is behaving like a thug.

If you are so desperate to keep your god given right to call a black man a thug then your priorities are misplaced or you simply don't care about black lived experiences.

There you go imagining my words or intent to match your narrative. I have ZERO right to call a black man a thug, IF HE IS NOT A THUG. If a human being is behaving as a thug, I will call him a thug regardless of his colour.

>Either way good day to you.

Yeah see ya.....I notice you sidestepped the marxist critical race theory element which speaks volumes.

Good luck with the non preaching, it is rarely a good fit with marxism or CRT.......be better.
