A lot of this drama should be blamed on the referee.
If a decent penalty , such as a sin bin, or even a send off was given on the day, i doubt he would have received 4 wks. When Madges complaints were tabled and the game reviewed i'm sure the league felt compelled to show some balls.

Agreed. The ref and touchy should be spending some time in NSW Cup

He’s a brilliant player with a natural ability

He is close to if not the best player in the comp when he is on. His top level is amazing. I'd love to watch him play if he wasn't such a dirty player.

Agree, but I wonder how we would have thought about all this if he played for us?

If he played for us he would have been sent off and given at least 4 weeks

It’s bizarre that they were fighting the charge, yet he wasn’t named in their 21 man squad this week. So they must have known he was no chance of getting off.

Perhaps the Rabbitohs themselves thought that he needed an extra week and some squirming in the hot seat to drive home the lesson he needs to learn. You don’t get an opportunity to hear and reflect on all sides of the argument if it’s an open and shut case. This case went until almost midnight. If Wayne thought he could bench him without benching him as a last resort, then I think he would grab at the opportunity. I doubt the club would impose an extra week on a first timer?

He was always going to miss a game or two they were only going for a downgrade on the severity of the charge to lessen his suspension on looking at replays again this morning Souffs should be fined $10000for bringing the game into disrepute he was GUILTY AS CHARGED and it only took the panel 8 minutes to throw the appeal out.On being a first timer he has sailed pretty close to the wind on many occasions now that he has form any future charges we be dealt with accordingly its over to GRUB .

If it took the panel only 8 minutes to throw out the appeal, then that is supportive of my theory. Is it not?

We can only be thankful that we dodged this Grub fancy having to pay him a Mil to sit on the sideline due to his problems.
How long would have he survived in the 70 & 80s with this garbage he carries on with.

Exactly right. There was that game last year where brooks got sent off. Again because a ref lost control because he didn’t take care of the niggle. Now there is no punching it all happens off the ball or with players helpless on the ground.

Hopeless

That's what he gets for latrell thinking. He won't change his thinking either when it comes to a chance to knock a player's head off to save a try.

He’ll be on 1 point after his 4 week holiday. 3 points deducted every week he is suspended.

Dally M's will introduce an inclusive special award this year for Latrell..

Thug of the Year..

I really think it’s dangerous to our game the types of people who have a mouthpiece in the media and their ill-conceived ideas gain traction

If judiciary found him guilty then punishment deserved , this was not an incident in the process of making a tackle , it was essentially off the ball, as it had cleared them both and hit him in the head / face.

What I am sick of in the media , players do the wrong thing and action gets taken and everyone has a hysterical whinge
- foul plays gets punished - nrl at fault
- excessive discretions in game , player gets binned .. it’s all the refs fault
- players interfere in try scoring situations , penalty try given or sin bin agin outcry against ref
- players purposely slowing play the ball etc , 6 again given or old days penalties - again refs at fault
- whinge by Souths & some media types why there was no other punishments on weekend for knees in try scoring situations - I don’t know maybe because that player had a few indiscretions they decided to ping him on minor matter too rather than letting go they usually do

Why don’t they blame the players and coaches who are all responsible for these actions instead of blaming ref and NRL

The word thug is a race baiting term. If you don't mean anything racial by it just don't use it. Simple. You can google as much information on the subject as you want te educate yourself. The connotation is what it is and if you don't want to come across racially insensitive just don't use the term. There is no need to come out swinging when someone merely attempts to clue you in that the term has racial connotation.

I would have thought on a forum where people get banned for mild swears that this sentiment would get more support. Particularly given we support a club that is branding itself as inclusive to indigenous people.

My only problem with your post is in the first sentence. When you say a word IS something what does that mean? Does it have that meaning and several others? Or is it mutually exclusive with all other meanings? **Or does it have that meaning when applied in a certain context, which in guessing is what you mean here.**

However, that word is a reasonable English word to describe Latrell Mitchell on the field, perhaps the single best word that won't get you banned here. So while I do appreciate the extra context you provide, and will be more careful how I use that word, I disagree that anyone has used the word with even the slightest implication or Latrell being reprehensible because of his race, only for his actions.

It is overwhelmingly commonly used when describing black people. If Nathan Brown did this people would call him a grub. Black guy does it they're a thug.

I've stated what I've stated on the subject I'm not going to preach to anyone. Change or don't, the world is changing around us.

And yet you keep coming back with this nonsense. Ive spent over 50years on the planet and NEVER seen it used in that context. The Oxford dictionary doesnt recognise it but you point to one lefty critical race theory article and we should all change?

The judiciary punished Latrell for 3 incidents .. 1 being for Latrell sliding his knees into Garner after he scored a try .. the ref put him on report for this incident calling it foul play on a player scoring a try .. ummm I'm not a ref but if foul play on player when scoring is committed .. aint it a penalty try .. ?? and therefore Garners try was then deemed and 8 point try .. ??
