Canterbury are our guide. Took them years to get off the bottom of the ladder despite a couple years of marquee signings.

I think if we can add 2 material signings in the off season, we will edge off the bottom.
Luai and Turuva will help a lot.
Injuries and suspensions haven't been kind to us this year either.
Without any additions, we will be favourites for the spoon.

Yet we were able to strip Melbourne for numbers on several occasions; so it is definitely in them. So we can't say that they don't know or haven't been shown. The second half last week agaisnt the Sharks was as bad as the half v Saints. Surely it is more attitude and poor execution by certain players than it is about our predicitability when it is not a consistent issue (but close to it).

I think many of us called it months ago. If you look at the “your 24 ladder predictions.”
We’re getting rid of our forwards but haven’t recruited any.
The MO is the same as our halves situation, while a few clubs were collecting halves like pink diamonds we were unloading them. Then with a flurry we got into the market, resulting in more halves than we needed.
This method frees up cap space and reduces variables which can sometimes be a hinderance, but is it effective? Will it get results?
We could sign a few players like Viliame and Angus?
But the real fight we have on our hands is the acceptance of mediocrity, particularly when it comes to coaching. Many of the players we send packing are capable of getting us up the ladder, but are we losing them because we can’t coach them?

When we look at the scoreboard results of the past few seasons, what we find is a dramatic negative change at round 12, when we start getting belted.
Read into this what you will? You could think for example that all other teams have improved fitness, skill and teamwork? But that would be only part of the story.
I don’t know for sure but like many organisations there would be some kind of mid year performance appraisals throughout. We know if these aren’t handled properly?? Now we know we’ve always had inexperience on the board and we now also have the same in the coaches.
We can’t move closer to success by continually sacking those who we originally thought were a great fit.
Unless this changes I’m thinking bottom 4 again next year.

Put it this way...if we go with this expectation, anything better will be a success. If enlightenment is seeing reality, then the unenlightened remain deluded by illusion(al) emotions.
We are not in isolation here.
The pattern you are highlighting is generally the difference between developing teams and proven teams.
You have your rare few that maintain a high level of consistency each year round to round but generally the pattern is the teams that know what it takes build into the season knowing it’s a progression through the year whilst teams that are out to demonstrate change start fast and try and keep that momentum going all year.
That’s the answer to the pattern, resolving it I’m not sure.
Prehaps maybe it’s an indication of teams that look for quick fixes to fix long term problems other than looking at long term fixes and coping the bumps along the way.
I can’t say we’ve dropped of enormously since round 1 can you?
We’ve been competitive up until the last game despite some scorelines v Broncos roosters and cowboys.
Next two, Rabbits and Knights with them both desperate to stay in touch with the 8 should give us a good indication of how competitive we are and want to be.

The dramatic negative change at round 12 is most likely due to mental reasons after the team trying their best in matches only to keep losing for whatever reasons - bad luck, no rub of the green going our way, bad ref decisions, sin bins, a last minute try to the opposition etc. Happens every year, constantly losing, despite best efforts, takes its toll mentally.
Could be that those teams get a clearer picture of the task at hand and by weighing up what’s already been in the first half of the season, the task is simply too large to continue in the same fashion through the 2nd half of the season.
Let’s face it, as fans if your team is sitting in the bottom four come the mid point of the season your not exactly expecting much to come and this is when talk starts around squad changes etc all getting mentally prepared for the next season after writing off the current one in your head.

We will score more points but if we don't fix our defence first we will finish bottom 4 at least in 2025. Bulldogs focused on defence (their attack hasn't been that hot this year) but they are very high on the ladder. Defence is first always. For tigers that seems to be the opposite. Which is why we need to sign a decent defensive centre and pack leading prop

We have been told over and over that defence was our focus this year.
This is us trying 🤣
The Bulldogs turnaround is awesome. Rd19 last year they had conceded 505 points. This year 263.
