The good book states that we have a life expectancy of between 70-80 years. For some footy fans like old North Sydney Bears supporters (who last year celebrated 100 years since they won a Premiership in 1922) they never got to see their team win a GF in their lifetime!! Whilst the joint-venture of Balmain and Wests struggle through 12 years of missing the play-offs spare a thought for Titans, Eels, Raiders & Warriors supporters who are at least 24 years without a Premiership in the current NRL format. So yes a supporter can catch the virus called the LOSING BLUES and their is no cure if you decide to continue following your poor performing team. My only suggestions to avoid post game depression is as follows, and in no particular order:
1. Don't watch or listen to the games in any format (including replays)
2. Definitely do not purchase a supporter package at the season commencement (because you will be angry you forked out the money)
3. Put your Wests Tigers Jersey's, caps, scarf etc. in mothballs.
4. Get off the Wests Tigers online social formats
5. Stay away from the Monday morning office Tea Room to avoid post weekend footy discussions.
Alternatively you can put on your rose coloured glasses and continue to go to the games or watch the black, gold and whites on TV, BUT remember at the end of the game to -
"Always look on the bright side of Life".
