Gold Coast Titans hooker Matt Srama has signed a one-year deal with the Sydney Roosters as back up to first choice rake Jake Friend.

Friend requires a shoulder re-construction, but this has been delayed by an infection and the Noosa junior is expected miss the start of the 2015 season.

Srama, 23, would be an ideal replacement for Friend during the early stages of the Telstra Premiership.

2015 PLAYER TRANSFERS

“Matt’s opportunities have been hindered by injury but he’s in terrific shape. A tough and uncompromising player, Matt’s experience and talent will add great depth to our squad,” Roosters recruitment Peter O’Sullivan says.

Srama signed a two-year contract extention with the Titans in June, but looked to be surplus to requirements on the glitter strip following the acquisition of Penrith’s Kierran Moseley.

No big deal…but it does beg the question...if they were needing to free up Cap space to sign Ferguson as well makes you wonder how they do it...

Pretty sure i read that Friend would miss the first 2 months of the comp. If that's true, all you SC players better jump on Srama. He's a tackling machine and will be a good price having only played a couple games this yr.

Handy pick up. He was going be the next big thing up on the Gold Coast and they shafted a perfectly good hooker in Nathan Friend to keep him.

They pick up a back up like Srama
We pick up a back up like Drinkwater.
Yup yup yup

He's a good buy.

They buy well and smart…
Mortimer was a good pick up and they used him well.

Style wise reminds me a lot like Segeyaro.
Smart move Roosters.

 , he's not that stupid why would you be a Guinea Pig to the Rorters and ruin your Career then what ? when they don't need him anymore chew him and spit him out like they did with Mortimer .

That's an interesting take to say the least.

Change of heart because Titans refused to pay out his full contract.

Roosters still need someone to cover Friend who is likely to miss a decent part of the season recovering from his health issues.

Aubusson usually does a good job when he has filled in at hooker in the past and Hastings can't be too far away

Cant see Jackson playing more than a few minutes at hooker, not his go at all.

He is a halfback who skills a more like a fullback than a hooker. He is dynamic and in the short term might be a good impact DH of the bench, but anything more would not suit him.

Reckon they will play Aubusson for the first 6 weeks.

It will be too soon, but they have a gem coming out of SG Ball, Grant Garvey, he is a real talent, IMO a far superior player to the highly rated Lichaa at the same point.

hope they dont make a play for Cherrington, he is close to the best untried hooker running around.

GOLD Coast’s Matt Srama will remain at the Titans after having a change of heart over his move to the Sydney Roosters.

The 23-year-old hooker was back at training with the Titans last week, despite the Roosters announcing on November 20 they’d signed him on a one-year deal.

Titans’ assistant coach Terry Matterson confirmed Srama had backed out of the move to the Roosters at the last minute and will instead be staying on the Gold Coast.

“As far as I’m aware that’s where it is at the moment,” Matterson said.

“Obviously there was a bit of a misunderstanding and things weren’t just quite sorted out. Matty had a bit of change of mind at the last moment.

“For the foreseeable future Matty’s going to be a Titans player.”

All good, Goose, they have already signed Matt McIlwrick from Canberra to replace Srama
