Stadium redevelopment stuff

The knock down of Allianz is an extravagant waste which cannot be justified in terms of more pressing priorities in regional NSW, health, education and assistance of homeless. This embarrassment about the state of repair of the SCG surface has the potential to turn into a disaster for Gladys. No doubt Gladys will be seeking advise from Alan Jones.

I understood the law which was introduced in 2106 is not retrospective!

And now it has become a safety issue once the extravagant waste of taxpayers money has come to light.

It seems the upgrade of corporate boxes, spa and other executive suites was a higher priority than safety?

The SCG Trust can afford to take out a loan of $770million to pay for the upgrades (as confirmed by the Parliamentary Budget Office.

Or maybe we just have the private sector stump up the cash for it?

The stadium is owned by the government, not the SCG trust.

Correct, that's how Michael Daley could threaten to sack board members. I'm no fan of Jones but Daley is just being a political opportunist here.

There is nothing opportunistic about prioritising the expenditure of public monies on education, health, the Darling and regional areas.

If the rebuild of Allianz is not a priority of the Government, obviously the SCG Trust will be required to fund it. The POB confirmed this is feasible.. If this occurs, you can expect the rebuild to be modest.

Better still, have Todd and NIck stump up the cash if they believe it to be a priority. I imaginet Todd's days at the head of the NRL will be numbered if Labor win office.

Health and Education is being priortised with $200B being spent during the time of the stadium builds.

Once again the Trust does not own the stadium, the government does.

The Trust manage the grounds the government own them … this is the part that Daley and Labour leave out so the not so smart socialist can get into a frenzy! Like this Liberal government has spent more on hospitals, health and education than any other government in NSW ‘ s history but let’s not go there ! Alliance will be built no matter who wins the election with TAXPAYERS money !

3 years is a long time.

Our COE will be in Canada Bay somewhere(does that mean Concord oval or somewhere else?) and it appears Bankwest stadium is the new favourite for our main home ground.

I’ll wait another 3 years to check in, lol.

It's actually a cracking spot for the community with the Parramatta Rd redevelopment. Glad they have managed to get this rolling.

Why should stadiums be funded by the Government but basic infrastructure be funded by the private sector?😀 Answer is absolute monopolies make bucks for mates. Taxpayer funded stadium rebuild s also make bucks for mates. There is no business case to fund a new stadium but the Libs are doing it anyway. Our hospital waiting lists are the worst in Australia. I could go on but once Flats has sold all revenue raising assets what is left, the Harbour Bridge and Opera House?

I couldn't have said it better. For around 5 years I worked in a govt dept and had quite a lot to do with a former NSW Labor Treasurer. I admired him but he was consumed with paying down debt at the expense of any infrastructure spending. For years the govt ignored infrastructure and NSW suffered. When this govt came to power they reversed that trend and have invested billions in infrastructure as well as record investments in health and education. While I'm politically agnostic these days I do acknowledge this govt's attempts to reverse a bad trend.

Buy selling most of the NSW assets - what do they do for money once all the assets are gone?

You believe what you want - how big is the financial hole going to be for a following government if Glady'd get beaten on Saturday week?

I'll believe what I know to be true. All govts sell assets. Just in case you've forgotten it was the Carr govt who first wanted to privatise poles and wires. They failed to win the unions over and then it was revived by Morris Iemma and that brought him undone as Premier. Labor govts sell assets just as much as Coalition govts. And there won't be a real financial hole if Daley wins govt because changes to govt accounting in the last 7 or 8 years make that almost impossible. The last financial hole left by a govt in NSW was left by the former Labor govt when Barry O'Farrell became Premier.

yea probably, might give the council a hint that something needs to be done to it, even though it is not up to standard, that match we had with Manly there last year was awesome ( excluding the raiders match  )

Many are over Baird and Gladys - the arrogance and snouts in trough. There are the rorts, the handouts and wealthfare they give to retired millionaires, developers and corporations. All we get is government spending our taxes on their mates. We get longer hospital waiting lists, ; higher tolls and more expensive power, falling wages and belt-tightening austerity.

Mate I have voted Labor my whole life, but after what the last Labor Government did in NSW it will be a long time before I again vote Labor in a NSW state election. No idea who I will vote for as Ayres is my local member and I do not know if I can bring myself to vote for him.
