rectangular, has modes for 20k, 35k and 75k as well as great LED lighting to create a home atmosphere and along with a different seating pattern make it not so obvious theres empty seats. not to mention this thing has a bloody ROOF! i reckon we can average 25k+ at this new stadium

can't wait for this, hope we play 8-10 games there once its done

We won't average anywhere near that unless we become a permanent fixture in the top 8\. And the chances of that happening…..slim to none.

why not? our long term average at ANZ is 23k, not much of a stretch to push it up to 25k given how nice these upgrades look (plus transport like westconnex and light rail)

Exactly. It's seems the club itself and some of us supporters never want us to be a powerhouse. Just hapoy being a tier 2 club I've seen some one describe us.

We need results on the field guys. You think we're going to average 25,000+ being a bottom 4 side? I don't think so.

And we need money to achieve that. You think losing money year after year by playing at the LO and CSS will improve our finances? I don't think do.

Not at all. That's not the point I'm trying to make either. I want the Tigers to move away from LO and Campbelltown. I want us to play at the larger grounds due to the guaranteed income. I just don't think we'll average 25000 per game because we're not a winning team. We're bottom 4 and until that changes, we're not going to attract larger crowds.

Fair enough. Apologies, i misunderstood.
If we ever do get competitive though i reckon we can average 25k really. I think we would have achieved that from 06-12 if ANZ was our fulltime base.

Once construction starts ? .. On the revamped ANZ Stadium , I'd like to see 6 games a piece at Cambo and Leichhardt .
Once work has finished , I'd like to see a minimum 8 games at ANZ and just two games a piece at our suburban grounds for sentimental values .

Parra can keep Parramatta stadium to themselves.

ANZ will remain in use throughout its upgrade. At no point will it's ccapacity fall below 45000

Ultimately I'd like to see 8 games at ANZ and 4 at CO. Any less than 4 games and it's hard for the MacArthur region to feel affiliated with the club. I have no great affection for the ground itself but I think the region is strategically very important to us. If that means less profitable game days for a number of fixtures, than I see it as a wise investment.

As proposed the new ANZ stadium looks fantastic. Pretty much solves all the problems it currently has. Thank goodness sanity has prevailed on the stadiums policy.

As for being based on Parramatta Stadium, no. Why wouldn't you want to base yourself at ANZ?

I have ANZ membership and the seating is parallel to the field already. I agree that the upgrade will make the stadium better and bring people closer to the action but I do have an issue with rectangular stadia. Last year I was seated on the half way line, three rows back and I can tell you that, because there is no curve at all in the seating, from those close seats, you can't see the corners of the ground; I found myself relying on the big screen or standing up to see those areas. This year I am more than twenty rows back and can see the whole field but putting the seats closer to the field will only make for worse viewing for those close up seats.

like i said before, the wests tigers average 22.7k in regular season home games at ANZ. given the enormous redevelopment of the stadium and transport facilities why dont you think we can push that to 25k?

it's not like we've been a consistent and good team for 16 years

obviously that will dip somewhat if we go from 4 to 8 games there but i think the upgrades will do wonders for crowds at ANZ. ANZ is pretty #@!$ at the moment - this should make it the best rectangular (or maybe even non-rectangular) stadium in the country and make people keen to go there. i'm definitely there every or almost every game we play there in reserved seating once the upgrades are done

i'd also hope that we do a little more consistently and all round better but thats not really essential to hit 25k averages AT anz stadium imo.

The eels have been a pretty poor side for the past 6-7 years, earning a few wooden spoons and not making the 8 since 2009\. They still manage to pull crowds of around 16,000 every week at Parra and 25,000-30,000 when they move their games to ANZ.

Winning helps but it isn't everything.

1.6 Billion for stadiums. Sorry but I can't get excited. 😕 I'd rather see that money be used to improve our hospitals and medical facilities. Wards are getting closed down, not enough beds for patients, cutting down on medical staff etc. Public schools are in desperate need of funding. Alot of our roads and highways are death traps that need upgrading. We need more shelters and housing for the mentally impaired , homeless and underprivileged.
We have to fight tooth and nail ( with usually no success) to get any extra funding for our hospital upgrades from the government. It's money raised from private donations that get the job done. I can go on and on… :frowning:

Heard this morning there has been an application from the Qld government to host the NRL GF whilst the stadium is being upgraded. Makes sense. Of course Victoria will dangle the MCG carrot.

Well, for once I totally agree with you - no priorities shown here by Mr Baird.

For one - this is Australia's largest city and deserves a big stadium - the government has already taken the Olympic stadium from around 100,000 to 80,000, now in their wisdom they are going to reduce it by another 5-10,000\. That is very clever.

Moore Park already has an excellent stadium - if it ain't broke don't try and fix it.

Parramatta has a relatively new stadium and very rarely does it get full, they could add stands at either end - that would be enough.

A new stadium for SW Sydney would have been the answer but they are too thick to understand that.

So with the above - I think they would have saved at least one billion dollars that could have been spent on things Tigermama was talking about.

Incompetent government spending is a worry - especially when it is not their money.

Hospitals are getting $76 billion spent on them this year. The government have to provide facilities across all sectors.

If that is the case gallagher ? It's certainly not being funded in the right areas….lets say the front line of the Hospitals .
Probably being spent in areas of Admin and made up roles , of course the CEO has to have an Assistant and the assistants assistant :blah :blah :blah and the Director of Nursing has to have a Nursing Supervisor and a NUM (Nursing Unit Mangager) and that NUM has to have a team Leader.....

Let me tell you that Patients that need to be specialized by one on one care are sometimes being stretched to look after more than one Patient to save cost . Patients with Alzheimer's really need one on one care.

Doesn't matter if 76 billion is being spent on hospitals. If they need another 1.6 billion to make the system better they should be using the money there.

ANZ and Allianz are hardly falling apart. Wouldn't want to know that the 1.6 billion dollars that could be used in the health system has cost people their lives just because we want to watch footy at a rectangular stadium at Homebush…

Banks have the government by the nuts.
ANZ wanted improvements on the Stadium to improve their return on investment for the Olympic stadium lease or they were going to throw it in leaving the government with a big white elephant.
Can't believe their isn't public outcry about this. By the time the government get their hands back on the site it will be old and torn down.
700m dollars down the drain for the taxpayers.
Banks should be banned from any infrastructure deals. Gives them too much power.
