For anyone new to Star Wars I'd advise against them watching Rogue One before A New Hope, the reason why the RO ending is so amazing is how it emotionally ties in with the original movie. That will be lacking if you haven't seen ANH.

First timers should watch Rogue One after watching IV.

Next time I get around to a binge I will watch them 1 through to 9 with Rogue One between 3 and 4 and Solo between 5 and 6.

Why Solo between 5 and 6?

You see his character progression from a self interested rogue to finding a cause worth fighting for by the end of Ep V. I think that is a good time to investigate why he was a ratbag to start off with. Just my opinion, others probably have equally good reasoning to watch it elsewhere.

Interesting. it copped a bit of critism but I really liked Solo.
