State of Origin 2016: I picked Dylan Walker, not Bob Fulton, says Laurie Daley

Its like a club your invited to join and each year they roll basically the same side out regardless of results. I would love a team for once picked on form with a real emphasis on picking a team that has the skills to beat QLD, rather than being tough enough to beat QLD.

For me a bloke like Cartwright is a must. Anyway it could have been a lot worse

To be fair, I think for a long time NSW did pick players on form but they couldn't gel on origin night. So they've gone the QLD path with regards to loyalty. Problem is, staying loyal to a team that continues to lose isn't the greatest plan. QLD rabbit on about how they don't make changes but it's more luck than anything that they happen to have a spread of top players mostly which play together at club level all together for some time now. There's not been a need to change.

Lol, I had a laugh when Ennis said he was dirty he wasn't there (picked). One thing i like to say to him is…Get Over It.
In saying that, he might still get picked for game 2 and or 3, depending on Robbie's form, injuries etc.

Cartwright and Peachey both very unlucky not to make the side.

And Dylan Walker…..honestly that is one of the strangest picks I have ever seen.

I cant work out how he was picked at all!

Take this with a grain of salt , but James Hooper said last night at the time that Walker signed with Manly a story went round that Fulton made promises that he would push him for SOO if he joined Manly

If their is any truth to this , you have to love the way a selector sells out his state for his club

Might explain NSW record over the last 10 years

Ennis is similar to Pearce and Ben Creagh and others…great clubmen, important during the premiership rounds but just not cut out for the higher level stuff.
I mean last time they showed some faith in him he helped them lose the series after being a senior member of the side that was pantsed, sodomised and sent home without a taxi fare...

Yeah Peachey would have been far better in a utility role than Walker. In any position other than centre Peachey has it all over Walker, and he's just an absolute goer that seems to make things happen. The Walker selection reeks of a dodgy bargain having been made in the Manly transfer.

I'd have picked Cartwright too but he would have been a huge target in D close to the line - he butchered a few tackles there on the weekend against opposition less challenging than he'd face in Origin.

Dylan Walker to play 9 off the bench. Wow.

First of all he sucks.
Been in terrible form.
Doesn't play 9.
Had one of the worst games imaginable playing for Australia.

Guys like him are why NSW keep losing.

Walker was on a hiding to nothing. I dont blame him for trying to get that penalty as it was our only hope of getting up the other end. His defense was outstanding for the 10 minutes he was on.

Daley gave him no role in attack. Put him on as a middle forward and said "win it for us". Daley is the only person that should be criticised.

Bit of a Sheens moment for NSW

Think of how many blokes that are game breakers you could of chosen and slotted on at any time

I reckon NSW lost that game , we didn't win it , our defence was great , but NSW bombed a lot of chances

I'm the biggest Teddu fan but those that are thinking he would had made a difference tonight are kidding themselves.

NSW forwards didn't aim up , that was the difference IMO .
And having a S@&! Coach !

I reckon Ferguson and Moylan are the issues , no go forward early in sets

Coaches should live and die by their selections.

Bang on, and Daley has pulled a Taylor with his team selection, Walker had no right being there, Jack Bird would have been a far more viable option for bench utility.
Jackson and Greg Bird should make way for Cartwright and Scott, lets hope Daley doesn't need intervention like Taylor to pick a team on form.
