I thought this to be the key quote.

"Rectify immediately" reads to me the three support staff were part of the problem and they are now gone. All three were Sheens' appointments and his buddies. Potter's argument would be he has not been able to do the job he wanted with the current support staff.

I think Potter has been given a blank sheet on structure and desired staff. Club will decide from that point.
 
Any coach should be given the opportunity to do it their way, he didnt have a choice on support staff or playing roster.

How did we expect him to perform?

Next year will be the test, he may live and die by the sword, he may also succeed!

But give him a real chance.

He has made tough decisions all year. He has the character, no give him the support!

Maybe Tim Sheens will be back as Head Coach next year to earn some of that dough we have been lining his pockets with!

What a shambles this place is with the Board. How can we have any confidence in the fact that they can do ANYTHING right, given their performance this year. Sack the Board first, then worry about the rest. We are being led by some burnt out weather man FCS!!!
 
The statement is equivocal and leaves the doors open to either retain or dismiss, Potter.

I hope they retain him and give him a go next season. I thought they appointed him because one of his strengths was developing young players and bringing them through. One of the few positives this year has been the development of some young talent.
 
I think we are all so focussed on trying to find a definate answer in that statement that we missed the most obvious part in it..

At no point is there any support given to Potter being the HC next season.

I believe it's information being handed out to members by what they are NOT saying, not what they are saying.

x2 … potter should be judged on his recruitments, selections and development of younger players. sheens only gave marika a start last season when the cupboards were bare. at least potter is not afraid to give the young blokes like simona,nofa,sue, ava etc a go.
 
I'm convinced that this joint venture will never succeed with the board structure we have. And what an idiotic statement to release to the media.

What were the outcomes from last season's coaching review? What did the club learn? Are the same people who rubber-stamped Potter's appointment the same ones who want him gone? If so, are they accountable?

Just earlier this year we had a board member flapping his gums about the need for Benji Marshall to be a "Tiger for life". How absurd. Stick to making sure the direction the club moves in is a positive one and think about keeping Tigers fans for life because they have pretty much lost me.

Leave the coaching decisions to the guy who is paid to make those decisions.
 
Dear Colleagues

I think that those of you who expected to see an unequivocal statement of support for the coach were expecting too much.

It seems that off field (man management) issues are the main concern of the statement, and the fact that three support staff will not be retained in 2014 suggests that they were perceived as part of the problem.

My reading of the statement is that if the Board and the coach can agree on a new structure and support staff for 2014, then Potter will be there next season.

The reason the statement did not unequivocally say Potter will be coach next year is because his retention is contingent on him and the Board agreeing on the coaching structures to be implemented and the support staff to be engaged for next year.
 
This statement and the termination of support staff gives the club 2 options:

1\. If they keep Potter he gets a say in who his support staff are.
2\. If we sack Potter and appoint a new coach like Neil Henry they will want to bring their preferred supports with them.

An each way bet from the club however in my opinion Potter deserves another 12 months to 2 years with his team and the support staff he wants.

Really, there is nothing in this statement indicating that Potter is for the chop. In fact, there is a strong indication that they will work with him to put his own support staff in place for next year. We all need to take a cold shower and then get behind this young side for the remainder of this season.
 
WT board members represent the OWNERS of the club and are not accountable to anyone.

As they (whoever physically sits in the chair represent the WT company owners (5 members from Balmain FC, 4 from Ashfield Leagues & 1 from Magpies) they are not going to sack themselves unless they all agree to withdraw ownership and hand licence back to NRL.

WT Members are only season ticket holders not members of a WT football club (which does not actually exist)

They have no voting powers like parramatta fc members for example.

Calling for them to be sacked wont happen as there is nobody above them who can sack them.

Despite the mismanagement and rumors and leaks, they are what they are.

Unless the owners (all agree to) sell up to the NRL or a private individual or company the board structure will stay (but the people may change via nominations and self appointments)

WT board is allowing WT to be run very amateurish.

I am still hopefull that the NRL can force a re-structure as they own the license and all rights to the name etc.

There is some Bollox being told by media hacks listening to certain disaffected parties around the Tigers. After years of mollycoddling under Sheens the Senior Players have had a sharp shock with Micks brand of tough discipline, which was sorely needed! So Marshall got benched because of poor performances and attitude and spits his dummy out along with his hack pals!
Grant Meyer needs to have the bottle to stick with Mick and by showing certain Coach's the door who were part of Sheens staff is at least making a positive statement! The problems have been there for quite a while on the pitch and definitely off it with all the in house squabbling. Mick Potter is not a bad Coach the situation he inherited is not of his doing and the Club should have the decency and balls to allow him the time to get the Tigers up and running again.

I read the statement as saying in a roundabout way that Potter won't be the head coach next season, they didn't exactly throw their wholehearted support behind him in that pathetic excuse for a club statement. Sounds very much like he is a goner.

If this is the case and we wind up paying for 3 coaches (past and present) next season it is beyond belief how *#*#ed up the Wests Tigers have become both on the field and particularly off it. Insanity at it's finest TBH.

Give Potter a bloody decent go….it is not like he has had a lot to work with this season through no fault of his own.

Because of the structure of the Board, they ARE very amateurish! Until this structure is changed, Wests will always have problems.
