Statement on Matthew Lodge...

He'll be lucky to be with us next year at this rate. Another club will be silly enough to sign him if we turf him.

I heard he approached officials about covering up this incident. Hardly stand down for the rest of the year material but silly nonetheless

He will be no loss if he keeps on doing dumb things.Yes he can play but his attitude at 3 clubs has been very poor

Interesting - its the same club and the same ground as the Fafita Bros incident. Whether it was the same game who knows.

I find it ironic both his parents are cops

Usually how it works.
Went to school with 2 brothers who's dad was a cop and another girl who's dad was a cop.
Nothing but trouble.

Not sure if it's the mindstate that they can get away with whatever because they're parents are law enforcement and have a bit of pull…. or, they are genuinely trying to rebel.

Either way....
Neither of 'em turned out any good.

Similar experience here, I went to school with someone who's dad was high up in the federal police. Strange bloke who always seemed lost and just followed the crowd. Never a stand out trouble maker, more like he had no idea. I felt sorry for him most of the time.

I grew up with a brother and sister, their Dad was a Police Officer and you wouldn't have met two nicer kids…the Brother is in the Highway patrol now and has a good family, his sister has a good family and married a police officer who teaches in the academy in Goulburn....dare I say it comes back to the parental guidance given at a young age....

Lodge is useless anyway, i hope we get rid of him, we don't need the kind of person he is let alone the mediocre football he plays. I hope your reading this to and you realise how insignificant you are, do you think in 12 months time anyone is going to remember Matthew Lodge? I doubt anyone knows you now, even hardcore nrl fans would walk by you in the street. Just remember you've done nothing in this game, you've played a handful of fg games for a team running last, but only you can change that, do something positive to be remembered for.

To be suspended for a couple of months though seems like a stretch, especially seeing the Fifita boys haven't even been suspended yet. But then again its not his first warning.

Yes they have, both Andrew and David Fifita have been given 12 month suspensions by the Penrith Junior Rugby League, Lodge’s is effectively a 3 month suspension, these bans are from the Penrith Junior Rugby League, not the NRL or the clubs.

Um, you do realise there's a big difference between being suspended from being a coach of a junior footy team and being suspended from playing in the NRL? A huge difference!!

And anyone bagging Lodge's performances thus far -for one his stats are actually not too bad at all, and secondly do you know what Paul Gallen was doing at Lodge's age? Still playing in reserve grade and yet to debut. You nufties forget Lodge is still elegible (and playing the last couple of weeks) in the NYC. Are there any other forwards playing both NYC and NRL this season? I doubt it, and there won't be many if any.

He's miles ahead of other players his age…

I'm not really bothered what sanctions the NRL imposes if it comes out Lodge and the Fifitas were acting inappropriately, but does anyone see the irony in that Gallen & co accept drug bans and serve what a month, and these guys could well sit out longer than that? Does anyone else see the inequity in that? Not condoning threatening officials by any stretch, but it just seems wrong you get less for admitting to taking banned substances.

Or not admitting you took them even

Taking the deal would be construed as an admission of guilt wouldn't it?

Yes and no

Even if he was innocent there was that much mud thrown nothing would of cleaned it off CB

Looks like he's gone for the year:

"David Fifita has pleaded guilty and will be banned by the PDJRL for 12 months, while Matt Lodge, the Wests Tigers prop also involved in the incident, will not contest his ban, which runs for the rest of the season."

You have to ask why it takes three incidents for him to do an anger management course

Sharks aren't taking it seriously like the ASADA stuff
