Stats

Hi all,

I've been following the forums for several years and finally decided to become a member.

Stats are a vital part of our game, used in many different forms. Be it a coaches notepad, selecting a rep team, selecting your supercoach team, tipping and placing bets.

Stats can be quite setailed and are available on almost every event that occurs during a game of rugby league, from tackles, to penalties to average run metres per game.

There are several stats companies out there including Prozone, Champion Data, n
NRLstats and Fox Sports Lab, meaning numbers will differ based on methodology, definition, interpretation and the type of stat.

I work for Champion Data, you can view our live stats on our match centre (mc.championdata.com/nrl) or on twitter @championdatanrl.

Just wondering if you guys would be keen on match previews and reviews for each Tigers game from a statistical point of view? P.S. there may be some data which I cannot provide due to confidentiality.

TigerTom.

Feel free to post the stats, im sure many would appreciate them including myself, welcome to the forum.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'd certainly be interested.
Welcome to the forum, I'm new here as well.

Sounds good to me. I'm interested in some of the stats that aren't widely available such as effective-Vs-ineffective, the really detailed stuff.

That's a BIG yes from me, though some people on here will tell you stats are meaningless.

Everyone has different opinions on stats. I know some coaches out there love stats (Hasler, Arthur) and others don't believe stats (Bennett). I'm not sure what Taylors thoughts on stats are. Anybody know?

From what I can ascertain, Taylor's thoughts on stats are:
0 linebreaks = got potential
10 missed tackles = give him another 5 weeks to prove himself
5 penalties conceded = room for improvement
3 dropped balls = kpi met. good game.

Anwyay, welcome and bring on the stats!

Welcome aboard Tom.

Get ready for a weird and wonderful ride. I hope you've got thick skin - you'll need it on here. Good, one-eyed people though. Salt of the earth types on here mate.

I posted stats on Woods in another post and you called me a peanut. Can't have it both ways.

Hi Tom,

Do you have a stat along the lines of how many metres are surrendered after initial contact by the defending team? How many tackles we fail to put the ball carrier on the deck?

Surely we would be the worst in the comp for this… Frustrating as heck - I don't know what Kidwell has them practice but it sure ain't either of the above!

Nothing against the stats - they are facts.

Maybe I misunderstood your post that time. It appeared to me that you were comparing Woodsie to Buchanan, and calling the former a plodder. Harvey posted earlier and thought the same thing about what you said. Geo started it all, but he was being sarcastic about Woods and I picked that up.

At the end of the day stats don't lie

Now what is pleasing from our NSW Team is these stats

FULL TIME SCORE — Wests Tigers 24 -Griffin, Littlejohn, Addo-Carr, Ballin, Fine tries;

All of these boys we all support in some form and shape.
