Stefano Utoikamanu #241

I would be very surprised if has not agreed in some form to a deal elsewhere. Otherwise we would be hearing a different type of language from him and his camp, more designed to squeeze a few extra dollars.

As for Galvins comments, he has been advised by someone he needs to do some repair works after he copped a lot of flak after the release saga. So he is going to use every opportunity to preach commitment for the next year or so. Of course the minute he is a free agent things could all change.

Jerome Luai is going to hold the key to the recruitment and retention of a few players, sadly he is not here now to convince Steph that he future is bright
Really Luai shouldn't need to be here. Surely Stef knows who he is, how he plays and that he is going to be here next year. I honestly cannot understand why both Stef and his manager wouldn't go for a slight upgrade to see out another 12 months with an option for 2026 and see how it goes with Luai.

Hmm do I know what illegal means? Do I even know what "means" means?

So according to you, one can discuss any theoretical or actual future contract with the player, on any terms and in any official capacity, so long as you don't put an actual contract in front of them and so long as the proposed contract term does not begin prior to the end of their current contract?

Just clarify then this quote for me, if you will, from the CEO:

What does Abdo mean if anyone can go talk to Lachie Galvin at any time?
Happy to clarify it for you Jirskyr, you seem a little upset and if there is anything I can do for a fellow forumer and lover of the free world, Im there for you , you know that yeah?

Lachlan Galvin is under Contract to the West Tigers for another 2 years. Like I said in my previous post, another Club can not incentivize a player to break a Contract.

Hope this helps Jirskyr.....why dont you take the rest of the day off?

I rate Stef highly but I really can't believe another club is willing to pay $1M for him.

He makes a big impact for us when he's on the field but doesn't regularly get more than 50 minutes and statistically he's about the same level as Aloiai.

No that doesn't clarify what I already knew.

Can an external party discuss contract terms officially or unofficially with, for example, Lachie Galvin today, without breaking any of the new CBA rules? Can I take official terms from the Roosters to Lachie's manager and present those terms for negotiation, starting 2027?

I would not be asking him to break contract and I would not be putting an actual contract in front of him, just sitting down with him, his manager, his Mum and Dad, his Pop and his dog, about season 2027. Then the official contract is submitted end of 2025. Is this permitted?

There's no chance anyone is paying him 1 mil. Who would be that desperate?

Dogs can't afford that. No way Penrith would offer that sort of cash. No chance he goes back to Parra. Sharks have AFB coming. Dragons aren't any better than us and can't see them making him their highest paid player. Manly already have a lot of big $ on a handful of players. Would the Roosters really make him their highest paid player? They paid Leniu half as much as Stef.

The 1 mil is all agent talk trying to get us to up our offer.

Dogs can't afford him? Technically No. According to the rules.. Roosters make the rules. They can afford him. Penrith - well- maybe they can't. Cause they play by the book. Who knows?

I think $800k is more than reasonable for someone who still promises a lot but doesn’t really dominate. Richo pretty shrewd, he should know his limit, and stick to it.

Feel like you're right, if the market is set at $1m for AFB and Payne Hass is just over a $1m per year, Stef's not close to that.
Stef is a big body that makes meters but he's missing some really crucial strings to a modern prop's bow.
Late footwork, ball playing at the line, offloading, aggression in defence.
He's okay at all of that stuff, not elite.
And he's really only a 50-60min prop at best.
I love having him at the Tigers but if someone offers him $1m it's just too much, our $800k offer is very fair.

Keep in mind the same person who reported this said Galvin won't be at the club next year.

If it costs 1 million per season to keep Stef, than it’s in the teams best interests to pay it.
Really it is no major issue, just means one or two more players on the minimum salary, rather than players earning 250 - 300k.
With all these young players we have promoted to the top 30 next season, surely none of them are earning anymore than the minimum wage ?
