Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Clearly having a shot at Richo... In the Podcast when discussing Stefano leaving, Richo said he is after players who want to be part of the CrocodileRoll.. Richo implied Stefanno was not that player...I guess this is the way Stephanie pays him back...

To me Stefano has very little ticker, he was said he wants to be a leader at this club and be club captain...This year his performances were very average for a "leader of the pack"...he often was found wanting in defence; I dont think he even ran for over 150m in a game; his last game for the club he could only muster up 50m.(atrocious) ...It seems he was never held accountable at the WT for his performances. If he plays poorly with the Stom Bellyache will have him for breakfast!. Toughen up Stephaine!.... over and out #241!

I think you overlook the psychology of winning.
In regards to what ? Putting in effort ? If that’s what you mean … that’s exactly my point . If you need external things other than your own internal monologue to motivate you , then you’re going to be shit out of luck sooner rather than later .
I didn’t overlook anything

Big Stef got sick of not winning. After 3 years of it.

Plain and simple.

He’s a physical specimen who Bellamy will mould into a top line prop.

Well, on first glance I will take it as an opaque message of support as he did say the crocodile roll in 2025 in ine with Richo's comment and mentioned his 4 years here. Could of just said a simple thanks but Im not going to waste a further brain cell figuring it out. He's gone, he performed badly this year for a prop we depended on and he is chasing an opportunity for premierships now with a good club instead of building something at WT. Whether in making his decisions he was critical of coaching and his development he hasnt explicitly stated it but 'seeya, dont let the door hit you on the way out'.

Accountability begins when you look in the mirror. Stef didn't seem to understand that. I'm sure he will find out at Melbourne though.

He will be in exactly the same position as Brooksy in 1 year. Probably not in an elimination final though.

So that justifies quitting on your team ? You’ve lost the plot with Stef fandom . There’s nothing that turns me off more than someone who quits on thier mates .
I’d say three years in a career that’s lucky to last 10 is a fair crack before deciding you’re on a bad wicket.

Fair.

Front rowers put their body through hell though.

Not justifying it, but can see a world where Stef decided it wasn’t worth it.
Mate I guarantee you no one would care as much if he didn't harp on at the start of the year about wanting to be a leader, wanting to be the next captain, wanting to stay at Wests for life etc. His performances were the exact opposite of everything he said other than one or two good games this year which is frustrating because the ability is clearly there.

I see that quoted on here a lot.

Never saw him actually say it so going to assume it’s bull dust. He never looked interested this year after 3-4 rds. So yeah, fans can get emotional but claiming it’s his fitness and other rubbish I can’t cop.

He’ll play well in a good environment.

“I’m trying to focus on making the top eight, that’s what I want to do – I want to stay at the Tigers,” Utoikamanu told this masthead.

“I’ve loved every minute I’ve been here. They’ve given me my big opportunity to become the player I am now.

“I want to give back to the club. We’ll see what happens. I haven’t listened [to speculation]. Benji is big on ‘team first’, and putting others before yourself, so that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Definitely down the track, I want to be a captain of this club,” Utoikamanu said. “I had a little bit of a taste in [the] preseason when I was captain in the trial game. It probably wasn't as hard as I was thinking, I was just overthinking everything.

Probably in response to another article which his manager planted so everyone knew about the exit clauses.

It was bleeding obvious he wanted out, the clauses themselves tell you that.

You assumed it was BS & now that I've hit you with quotes that HE said you're saying it's obvious he wanted out. Those quotes tell a different story.

What was he going to say mate?

“Yeah we’re going into rd 1 and I’m on 750K but I’m over playing on a poor team” I am not disputing he may have said it (or been put up to saying it by the club PR), but the clauses alone tell you it’s rubbish. He wanted out if we missed finals, plain and simple.

Once again what has that got to do with anything between min 1 and min 80? Zero ! It’s nonsense justification . You’re like in Luke Brooks love territory . Whereas at least brooksy put in . Crazy what people will justify …
