Stephen Humphries on the Game Plan One HD on Thursday Night

matty119, do you know how BRET ended up using the facilities at Concord in the first place?

Did you know that the top 30 NRL players use Concord to train at anyway? It is the allocation of these players Wests are dirty over. It has nothing to do with Waters & Co opting to play for BRET it has everything to do with the Fonz wanting/forcing all the NRL players to play together in one side.

Sorry to everyone else for going completely off topic, but I feel like taking the bait on this occasion.

BRET are using those facilities because it was offered to them to use for a night a week to train at. Wests had the chance to do the same, but opted against it.

And yes, I did know that Sheens wanted all the players to train together, but because the Wests members of the board didn't want a joint State Cup, all of the recruited players with WT full time contracts were allocated to Balmain, but any who had previously played at Wests were given the option, of which Nathan Waters was one who chose to play for BRET. Josh Davis is full time but plays for Wests in the state cup, clearly he chose to stay there….Rocky Trimarchi is also on a WT contract, and is playing at Wests.

If you knew anything about the state cup set up, you would know that any players who have played at WT would choose Balmain over Wests anyway. Only the Wests juniors actually want to play there.

Rabbitohs emblem is a rabbit - colours irrelevant
Sharks - colours irrelevant
Storm ditto
Roosters
Knights
Manly
etc etc etc etc
NO clubs emblem and colours have any relevance
We're the tigers and our colours are black white and orange

Why do we need to be like other clubs. Everyone knows most tigers are black and gold and some white. Orange is the only colour that stands us apart from other clubs so why not use it? A sea of orange jerseys in the crowd would stand out as a Wests Tigers supporter then a mainly black or white jersey. Orange isnt in any other jersey. Anyway I wont change yours or anyone elses mind as you are to closed minded.

You sound just like Humpty…want everything your way

Geez Ink I'm impressed by the St George supporter in the photo got my attention, forget the thread :laughing:

Balmain Bug, of course Sheens would want all NRL players playing in same state cup side. Its much better for operations and combinations. But it has to be a Wests Tigers team in state cup or swapped each year to give each team a fair go.

Bug hasn't had a debate like this in ages! You must be chomping at the bit to get stuck into this!

I was a Balmain tradgic, but that was then and as far as I am concerned since 2000 there has only been one side and that is Wests Tigers.

Having all the players play in one State Cup side makes absolute sense. We need to have the best players playing together so they have cohesion and are familiar with each others games. What is the use in bringing through a player from Wests and a player from Balmain to play for WT when they have never played together? It is not the same as training together.

And as for the "this jersey is darker than that jersey" argument, it is all absolute rubbish. There is no Western Suburbs and Bamain anymore! Jesus we won a comp as WT but Bug still wants to continue with this argument!!

Bug, whatever I say, I'm not going to change your stubborn, uninformed mind, so I'll stay on topic, and comment that I'm eagerly anticipating Mr Humphreys appearance on The Game Plan. Hopefully he will have some interesting and insightful comments, and maybe some exciting news for us Wests Tigers fans.

Thread fail - Wests vs Balmain…........get over it, no one gives a flying fart about this ancient debate. WESTS TIGERS is only 1 team, it's my only team.

True. But some people at WT dont believe that.

Youre entitled to your opinion too, but when you say you support wests tigers but you dont even accept the colours…(much like humpty and his array of purely black & gold WTs merch.)...well I'll let you know then.

I support the clubs, just think orange should be our main colour on the main jersey

You do know we are Wests TIGERS don't you? **Of course the jersey should be mainly black and gold.** Doesn't matter about Balmain or Magpies jersey,

I'm happy with all THREE of our colours, seems YOU and Humpty arent.

Regardless if orange is used exclusively or no….if I said, ''Of course the jersey should be mainly black and white''.....you'd probably see where some of us are coming from. Then again you probably wouldnt.
The fact the club at time officially omits one of our colours (always the white) on our merch. is what irks me. That to me makes it Balmain.

Since the majority cannot stick to the topic and the dinosaur's have turned this into another Wests V Balmain thread there's only one option left. Thread closed.

Points (as best I can remember them):
- other clubs expressed interest in some WTs players so club didn't block them if they can do better for themselves
- Benji Marshall did not front Sheens about player disharmony as has been rumoured
- players have not expressed concerns to him
- Fulton and Moltzen not going anywhere
- unsettling for the club when someone like Gibbs leaves
- spoke highly about the value of a player like Blair who is very experienced for his age and can play most positions in the pack
- likes the current model of playing home games at the 3 grounds

In summary he didn't announce anything new or different from issues discussed on this forum

I thought Humphreys handled himself well considering Bulldog Ritchie was up front with him.

To summarise:

The Tigers are not releasing 4 or 5 players just to sign Blair;
Humphreys not aware of Marshall allegedly pulling Sheens on about breaking up the squad;
No issue with team harmony;
Humphreys hopeful of getting Blair, likes the fact he can play the full 80 minutes and can handle either front or backrow, very professional;
Highlighted the fact that Marshall, Ellis, Galloway, Lawrence, Ayshford have all recently been re-signed on long-term deals when asked about the loss of Fifita, Gibbs and McKinnon and the balancing act in keeping the good junior talent coming through while having a good mix of leadership and staying under the cap;
Moltzen not going anywhere;
Fulton given permission to look but highly likely to stay next season; and
Happy with the 4-4 split between Campbelltown and Leichardt. Will monitor the situation closely and if it is viable to play more games at the traditional grounds, then the club will look at it.

I was very impressed with Humphrey's and good news that Moltzen and Fulton are staying. He was very straight forward with the discussion and honest about our need to balance our squad and bring through exciting youngsters. I also got the feeling that Blair is as certain as it can be and that next week after the storm game we will see an announcement

Agree BB, the way he spoke about Blair was very positive and I got the same impression.
