Only caught the tail end of his interview with former Wests Tigers player Owen Craigie, if anyone saw the whole story let us know, the guy had his demons and exposed them and didn't blame anyone other than himself.

Such a waste of talent. Could have literally been anything. The game where we came back from 24-0 against the Knights in 2001 was him pretty much beating the Knights on his own.

If memory serves he is the only player to make three Australian Schoolboys teams in consecutive years

Matt Johns rated him potentially better than Joey

He really could have been anything as a player he had so much talent.Unfortunately it wasnt realised due to himself.Listening to him talk tonight he went up 1000% in my estimation he has his head in the right place and really is a champion bloke. All kudos to him. There is more to life than being a footie player

So that must make him the ninth Immortal then.

Matty couldn't be wrong or put the boot into his brother, could he?

Yep First time I ever switched channels during a Tigers / Magpies game and missed part of the comeback when I got guilty for doing so

Never again :sign:

Yeah, it was also budha's first game back from his drug suspension. Another wasted talent we should have gotten more out of.

When he was switched on for a game he was dynamic but unfortunately he was a rocks and diamonds player you just didn't know what you would get on the day.

At the same time, There's a lot of talk about "Wasted Talent" and the likes….
This was a 15 year old indigenous kid who was away from his family and home town at a time when there wasn't anything welfare wise for the young players like there is now, Would have also had more free time back then than they do now.
- Is it any surprise he was lost....

He had some hassles, but looks to have well moved on from that now. He won a premiership, Played with some of the greatest players ever and still managed to play over 100 games.

Good on him, Was a joy to hear him speak. He didn't run from anything, held himself accountable and truth be told - He could have ended up far worse.

Pretty sure he won us the game in round 3 of 2000 against the Warriors with a try froma chip n chase. That might be the one you are thinking of?

I believe you're right.

That was a great side.

That was a great side.

Our side back then was great on it's day- pretty much always played very tough in the forwards with plenty of skill thrown in courtesy of Tyran Smith.
It was a real shame that our debut season derailed so dramatically-we deserved to make the finals that year.
I think the injury to McCracken and also losing the game to Penrith after leading by 20-something were the 2 main catalysts for that side going into a dramatic tailspin in the 2nd half of the season.
We sure had some great players back then.

That is definitely true (both counts), but Matty rates everyone better than Joey.

I ve said this heaps of times on here my memories of how good he was but Ill re-do, still blows my mind thinking about it.

Craigie is only one age group above me and I played against him quite a lot in various things, he was an out and out freak.

It is pretty well publicised now how talented he was as a kid, but pre-internet when Owen was just battling away I had a hard time convincing people how good he was. He played in a team era where at the Knighgs in the junior reps had M Gidley, Simpson, Buderus and a few other guys who played for Australia, he was easily their best player.

Another Guy who is a little younger, but from up there was Luke Burt, he was stupid good as a kid, but neve reached the heights, remembering watching him win a game by himself as kid when he was in HM, beat our side 24-22, he scored all 24 points, all individual tries and made about 3 try saving tackles. I expected him to go on and play test footy and kill it, still had a good career.
