Sterling is very astute. If he ever wanted a job in club administration you'd take him in a minute.

Or spend 7 hours a week with Brooks and Madden

True but he's a lot more than a halves coach.

Lets have people do one job and do one well.
The who Arizona Falcons idea. You have a forward learn to run the ball, block out the distractions, in attack you run the ball, in defense you mark your man.
Keep people doing simple things well.

Mitch Moses said one thing very telling at Parra "we never got anything like this at the Tigers, nothing like this at all" re being coached by Andrew Johns.

If you get Peter Sterlo, you get him on the halves. He works with the halves till they are fixed.
If you get Steve Matai, you get him to work on Defense. He works on defense and nothing else till it is fixed.
We had Jason Taylor, in his time only surpassed by Darryl Harrigan (did they play together?). He did not Fix kicking at WT. Did we learn? NO Adam Doulieni (can't smell) missed 4/5 goals. Who do we have on the Coaching staff? Pat Richards!

^see how dumb the above is. We have a player, who is learning the NR1 position, being moved into 5/8 and given kicking duties. Your halves need to be thinking about a lot of things, but you don't add to their burden as they need to be directing the team and thinking tactics. Add too much to a player and they do everything POORLY.

I wonder if we were lucky with Benji and the boys in 2005, and our top squad in 2010 including golden boot winner having a crack. All my life supporting West's we have struggled, except the years one fella has been one of the best in the world. Hopefully we aren't a struggling team forever!! Maybe I shout be greatful for the success I experienced

I can't remember another team winning it out of the blue. All winners in last 15 years have had a couple of years of top 4 finishes and then going on to win the GF. Hence, I can't see Penrith doing it this year either.

Boring little baldy man, you really fit in with the channel 9 crew, Gallen, Gould and co they all have the personalities of drowned water rats led by a host who hasnt played the game and just laughs all the time. Some of what you have said has merit but your still a boring little man, go back to channel 9 and your tiny amount of viewers.

I read all this and cry.
2005, we had a bomb team but you watch that grand final and you see Benji and the gang were doing something so different. I remember thinking "were loosing in Defense, attack, they are stronger and tougher. Yet were just pulling out absolute magic. The way Benji kicks the ball over a mountain of a Cowboy defender to score himself was brilliant and just not done on the field".

Our team needed a hardening for ages. I thought Mick Potter had a chance, yet now that I think about it we followed Sheens, a soft coach with Potter a soft coach with Taylor, a person without personal skills with Cleary a soft coach.
We needed to harden our side and toughen up. When Steve Mortimer was in charge of physical conditioning our side performed and we made the semi's in 2010. We need that back.

Not to take away from your points , as they are all good points , but it was the late Steve Folkes who gave us that steal.
