Steve Georgallis joins the Wests Tigers

Very shrewd move by Stephen Humphries and Tim Sheens. They waited and waited for the right person to offer the position to and as soon as Gus shafted Georgalis, Humphrey and co pounced. This will be the man to take over from Tim and I couldn't think of anyone better. Huge on fitness and discipline and the players love him. I'm very happy with this, fantastic job by all involved!

**PANTHERS caretaker coach Steve Georgallis is poised to continue his career under Tim Sheens at Wests Tigers next year.\
\
The Daily Telegraph last night learned the Tigers were preparing to extend Georgallis a formal offer, which could be finalised as soon as today.**

After being overlooked in favour of Ivan Cleary for the top role at Penrith, Georgallis has since fielded interest from UK Super League clubs.

But he was never keen to shift his young family from Sydney, despite declaring his desire to graduate from assistant coaching after a lengthy apprenticeship under former Panthers mentor Matt Elliott.

Having lost experienced assistants Royce Simmons and Steve Folkes, the Tigers were on the prowl for a relatively high-profile understudy to Sheens.

It's not known whether Peter Gentle - another of Sheens' assistants - will remain at Concord next year.In other news, Dragons three-quarter Peni Tagive last night finalised a two-year deal to join the Roosters from next season.

Hopefully he works hard with Lui and gives him some pointers in how defend in the halves.

Georgie was our Brad Fittler of the 90's. He was a top player that often cut teams to shreds.

Bug,

Will put this crazy post down to excitement over this decision.

I will swim a little against the tide here. Glad it is an assistant role as I am not sold on him yet as a first grade coach.

Welcome home Georgie!…was a great Wests player who loved the club and bled black and white...from what I've heard is a true believer in discipline, passion, DEFENCE and gets on with the players!!...Just what we need to take over from Sheens in 3 years!..

Bug is already pushing for Georgie to be Sheens replacement

Masterstroke ….... absolute masterstroke

Congratulations to Tim and Stephen on bringing Georgie back home

Are we bringing back Reschs as a sponsor as well?
Back to the future 5.
The ony coach ever to make an interchange after 30 seconds. Genius.

Its a great signing as long as he is allowed some real input rather than being a foot solider for Sheens. Could be a really good combination, Sheens being the hard man and Georgie being the people person

One of the most outrageous things I have ever seen on a football field. I just hope he is not in charge of the interchanges

I guess from your comment you were not a Wests Magpies supporter.

Having been a long-term (60 years) Magpie supporter **(I am now a WESTST TIGERS supporter),** I watched Georgie play many games, where he showed a commitment to the team that has been missing on occasions in our team this year. Yes, he did not have the talent or physical attributes of many other players, BUT he always made the most of the talent he had. If he could instill some of this passion in the Wests Tigers team, he will be a great success.

Welcome home, Georgie! Well done to Tim Sheens and Steven Humphries!

Another masterstroke by management.
Im tipping he will be fulltime coach once Sheens becomes coaching director of the club & he plays an expansive game which suits the players we have at the club

Does anybody know for certain tim sheens had an active role in the signing?

You would have to think so Ahwesome . Sheens will have to work closely with whoever we signed for the position So I say yes he would of

Yeh,because Sheens is the master of selecting and using his bench. :unamused:

Can anyone advise if Peter Gentle is still going to Salford ??

matt parish is their new first grade coach so i assume he'd only be supporting him if he was making the move…

and Sheens is the only coach ever to make an interchange with 30 seconds left,by throwing a winger on who hasn't seen any game time just for the sake of it.Genius

I've seen Wayne Bennett bring someone on to play less than a minute and he's finished games only using 16 players numerous times.

But I guess that's ok because it's Wayne Bennett.
