Has anyone read any good stories lately? I am reading some stories by H.P.Lovecraft from this website: http://www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some of them are ok. Some of the stories are pretty short too.

Currently reading the long awaited book 12 in Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. This series started back in 1990 however Jordan passed away in 2007 but his wife selected another sci-fi/fantasy writer to finish the series as Jordan had pieced together the ending of the series. If you're into sci-fi books that deal magic, fighting, political intrigue it's a very good read.

Raymond E Feist is another of my favorite authors and I've just finished reading his latest book At The Gates Of Chaos. And for action/counter terrorism/political books it's hard to go past Vince Flynn these days.

David Gemmell, Greastest ever - Start with Legend and the Lion of Macedon.

I just finished reading Les Miserables by Victor Hugo (Long and Heavy at times however well worth it), Currently reading Charles D1ckens - David Copperfield.

And anything Clifford.

I am currently reading the first 3 books in the Trial of Steel and Blood series by Joel Shepherd - an Aussie writer. I've finished Sasha and Petrador and have started Tracato and once I have finished that, I have Breath by Tim Winton ready to go.

I spend way to much time reading (Or listening to audio books these days)

Do yourselves a favour and read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy… The film adaptation is OK so far but there's nothing like seeing it in your mind. Not long and very easy to read.

The Road follows an unnamed father and son journeying together across a grim post-apocalyptic landscape, some years after a great, unexplained cataclysm has destroyed civilization and almost all life on Earth. Realizing that they will not survive another winter in their unspecified original location, the father leads the boy south, through a desolate American landscape along a vacant highway, towards the sea, sustained only by the vague hope of finding warmth and more "good people" like them, and carrying with them only what is on their backs and what will fit into a damaged supermarket cart.

Has anyone read any of Richard Laymon's novels??? They are a little bit like Steven King's or Dean Koontz's novels.

The Road was a disgusting movie, Spartan…
Like literally felt sick watching it, imagine the book wouldn't be much worse.

I suggest you all check out user: Geo's book when and if it ever gets published and laugh at his stories of how no girls wanted to dance with him at the year 7 disco.

On a serious note, Stephen King's non scary but thrilling ones are amazing.
The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption & Stand By Me.
All great reads and also great movies.

Finished the following since the last post…

To Kill a Mocikingbird - Harper Lee

Tale of two cities - Dickens

Catcher in the rye - JD salinger

The Screwtape letters - CS Lewis

The 7 habbits of highly Effective people - Steven 7 Covey

The Chocolate war - Robert Cormier

As well as bible and biblical Prophessy.....

Yes Demps "The road" was very confronting but very well constructed and worth the places it takes you and the emotions it envokes.

Borders have massive sales on at the moment - around 75% off. So I bought:

The Last Legion:Book 1 - CHRIS BUNCH

King of Hell:Book 2 (manga) - RA IN-SOO & KIM JAE-HWAN

Odd Is On Our Side (manga) - DEAN KOONTZ

Lightning -DEAN KOONTZ

Breathless - DEAN KOONTZ

I haven't started reading any of them yet but I will get around to it eventually, lol.

oh alien you have to get reading the dean koontz novels, I have a whole bookcase of just his novels…he's fan-freakin'-tastic!!

Hey Lethal - Koontz = Why

and what do you recommend as a start

PS- I have tons of books from David Gemmell, CS Lewis to Khalil Gibran and Shakespeare however I vary rarely buy a book these days.

I have found that the world of readily accessible Audiobooks really works for me in a fast paced world.

For a book with a Balmain and the Tigers feel The story of Danny Dunn by Bryce Courtney was a good read really enjoyed it

Hey Spartan - I really enjoy reading Dean Koontz earlier novels like The Bad Place, Midnight, Funhouse, Twilight Eyes…just his writing and descriptions are really good, it's like you're there in the middle of it...his latest novels like Odd Trilogy are not as good but still a great read...i could never really get into Stephen King who writes in the same horror genre, i found his novels were too boring and long winded.

A bit of a action junkie too so love lee childs and andy mcnab novles too
