Storm v Raiders (spoilers)

You Guys obviously watched a different game to me or your hate for the Storm blinds to what is actually happening.

I am no Storm lover or Raiders lover but the best team won last night.

Take away the wrestling (which is allowed under the rules, the few working on the arms etc. that were picked up were penalised), the Storm did not do too much to give away penalties, especially in the second half.

Raiders on the other hand - continually try to milk penalties and invariably do - which is why they are the team that receive more penalties than any other in the NRL. Wighton deserved to be sent to the bin - he is an idiot, which he proved with the Tedesco incident. Hodgson should have gone for ten as well for pulling back down in the play the ball. That is ok though. As for Blake Austin's performance for staying down injured - should have got the academy award. Couple of many incidents that were not in the spirit of the game.

As for Cronk not being a try - that is laughable. If that wasn't - then Rapana's wasn't either, very close to being short - not even referred though.

Korobiete is a weapon though Steve - It was because of all those match winning tries last night. It is ok though - he is being replaced by that other "Match Winner" JAC - certainly won heaps of matches for us.

The point of the night though was not the referees etc. it was the fact that Canberra was NOT GOOD enough. So now we are left wit two mongrel teams in the GF.

Can we get both of them beaten - unfortunately not.

Replays clearly showed Rapana put the ball on the line - they didn't even have a look at Cronk's try, and that's what people are complaining about.
Most think the referees favoured one side - maybe your dislike of Canberra is colouring your view?

Should be a cracker of GF. Cronulla looked full of energy against the Cowboys. The Storm looked a bit ragged last night, but they are consistently good week in week out - testament to a great coach.

Good luck to koroibete and Heighington. Leaving the WT really is a smart decision for players. And expect more players to realise this.

Next week's grand final is the battle of the cheaters. May the best cheating team lose.

Agree

But virtually every other sport officialdom find a way to prevent parts of the game they aren't happy with or are against the spirit of the game

Yet the NRL can't seem to stop anything

Don't blame the cheaters , blame the people who continually let this happen and do nothing year after year after year

A bit harsh  , heighington won a GF and played in a number of finals games with us. I think Koro went because of cap issues - I could be wrong? I'm sure there are many that have left us and never played a GF.

Yeah I thought the Raiders were milking hard all night, which I hate. I thought both teams got some soft penalties. It was not a match decided by the whistle, other than the Jack Wighton sin binning which was just the natural result of Wighton's stupidity.

Agree with many of the comments in this thread. Storm and for what its worth, the Broncos appear to get many of the 50/50 calls in their games and I reckon that's the coaches influence over the NRL more than anything. Even here in Qld, many have taken on board the storm (used to be Manly) as the team to loathe due to their wrestling techniques and not playing within the spirit of the game. For me its the sharks next week only because the poor buggers have never been able to hold the cup up. Not sure if Gilligan's Island re runs will get the jersey, maybe blues brothers movie or another viewing of the 2005 GF whilst they battle it out next weekend.

I agree, they lost because they had too many brain explosions (FB - sent off, #9 - stupid penalty etc. ), and they could not control the ball even with 100% chances to score. They can only blame themselves

I think the Raiders deserved to lose especially because of the milking that they were doing. It was the worst I've ever seen. They would take forever to try and get the call as well.

I think Canberra without the dumb plays probably win that game.

Sorry to hear you are going blind on top of your senility.
Neither of Storms tries were tries.

I agree. The best 2 sides are in it.

Cowboys looked very tired and would have been easily beaten and Raiders just need a little more mental toughness…watch them go next year.

Sharks/Storm GF will be a great game of footy. Two very different styles with tough packs and backlines full of strike weapons...I can't wait personally, its always great to see Cam lift a trophy!

Neither of Storms tries were tries. That said the team who made the least mistakes won.

Derogatory remarks again because someone disagrees with you.

Maybe you need glasses - you might actually see what is going on or maybe you didn't even watch the game.

My biggest problem I see for Canberra is I don't think either Austin or Sezer are dominant enough halves to get them over the line GF wise

They will close though , it is one of the few weaknesses they have bar switching off far too often in games

I dont think the Raiders will go close to beating Cronulla at all…
