my story: WTF was my first forum and tig_prmz just stands for tigers premiers but shortened coz i thought it sounded cool

Wayne Pearce signed a Balmain jumper for me that had the Saxonvale Wines as a sponsor in the 80s…

when it came back to me he gave me an autographed photo of him in the exact jumper and on it was....

I originally lived in Newtown and the first club I ever followed was Newtown. That was back in 1962 and I continued to follow the club until they were "excommunicated" in 1983\. By that time I was living in Fivedock/Concord and I decided to follow the local first grade club, Balmain Tigers, which merged into the Wests Tigers and which I now follow passionately. However I will never forget what brought me into rugby league, which I have played and coached at junior level, and that was Newtown.

Newtown, little info for you,in 1977-79,I was doing my business course in Ultimo…I lived in Wells street NEWTOWN just off ST PETERS station,Henson park was just around the corner virtually...the JETS were my second team after the Balmain Tigers.....small world isnt it...I left in 1980 to play rugby league in Wagga Wagga with the great Turvey Park Lions....

Hi True Tiger it certainly is a small world. I lived at the other end of Newtown in Probert St close to Newtown railway station. Newtown was a sporting nursery in those days and produced many good rugby league players. One of those was the great Johnny Raper who (a few years before me) attended my school Newtown Christian brothers.

Newtown, great story and Im glad you have very good memories to share….Johnny Raper was certainly an icon when I was growing up and for you to go to the same school must make you feel good about your upbringing.....cheers and thanks for sharing Newtown.....

ps..I was known to wander up your end of town, two of my favorite pubs were the MARLBROUGH and the Student prince.....

I used to be Leroy The Tigers Fan but in 2010 the wife and I purchased our only second ever new car in a Anniversary Model Ford Falcon XR6 which was a Sunset? XR50, hence the user name, the only new car we had bought prior to this was a Hyundai 10 years earlier.
So it was a big step up and the fact that the colour was similar to 'one' of the colours of our favourite side I changed my user name, as the car is now five years old I may have to revert to my previous name.

My parents named me Flip and I thought it was too short, so I added the 'pedy' on the end to lengthen it - true story!
