Mines pretty simple

I was going to be Happy Rock Tigerman but I'm too lazy

Gladstone is also known as Happy Rock to locals

So I shortened to my current

I also have Happy's Evil Twin but that was because of a password error /issue

Not real happy up there tonight… The Mighty Tigers carved you up 56 to 6!

Mine is simple... I was the youngest of 14 kids and was always called Little Wattie. As I got bigger it changed to Big Watto. Been a Wattie/Watto since my first day of Year 1.

Jets supporter mate What you talking about Willis ??

At least you could of let Jason Hetherington get a good send off for his last game as coach

I know this will mean little too many on the Forum , but wanting to send my family's best wishes and prayers to JH and the family , be strong and fight hard and hope you win this battle against this terrible disease

Underdog comes from my days of my high school running a chess competition, which I only came across by chance on an after school detention - (I went to a pretty nerdy selective high school)

I asked one of the kids running it what was going on, and this particular lad who had a pretty dim opinion of me, acted surprised when I said I knew how to play chess - which was like waving a red flag to a bull - so of course I registered my interest.

This was no "ordinary" chess tournament - the boffins of 4 unit maths had even set up a betting racket with semi accurate odds -a crude setup where odds didn't change on the fly - however they were heavily favoured towards members of the chess club to ensure no one lost out - this part of the whole shindig was of course not known by the teachers.

I was put in the "unseeded" bunch of kids, and given 101-1 odds. I slapped 2 bucks on myself. What they didn't know is I was once a primary school chess prodigy, and although I had not played seriously in years, I knew that if I went home and resharpened my skills against the computer and a handful of old chess buddies I'd be at least semi competitive.

Needless to say 3 afternoons of chess later, I was $202.00 richer, and as I pipped the "Number 1 seed" in the semi final by grinding him down to King/Pawn vs King, before I swept the number 3 seed in the Final one of the lads watching said - "He was supposed to be comic relief! The underdog is never supposed to win!"

It stuck through the last year of high school, and I started using it for a username because the Interwebz was starting to get big(ish) for stuff like that - so ever since then I used it for most things, as it generally wasn't taken - so from 1999 onwards.

The rest as they say is history - I've pretty much used "Underdog" or some variation on it (underd0g, und3rd0g, underdawg, etc) when it's been in use.

Nerdy, and probably a bit boring and self serving - but as NPH says -

I guess mine describes the duality of my personality.

Very much appreciate and enjoy history, music (particularly classical/jazz/metal,) art & travel. And I swear, drink and ride my sports teams home like your typical knockabout bloke.

Great story, UD!

Sort of have a cool chess story myself. Grandad taught me chess as a kid and joined a competition in the U10s against guys who had been learning and playing chess professionally for which I came third.

Then moved to Australia and came second last in a competition.. Pretty much gave up chess after that lol.

Mate, I'm rusty as hell - chess is about board vision - and thinking ahead - those are skills that need to be trained, much like building muscle mass - if you don't do it for a while, it goes away.

The game below is the BEST way to play chess - it's the ultimate equalizer - you start to flog someone, you get maggoted.

My grrrrrrrrrrrr came about after tiger victories I used to text this to mates from opposition teams. Eg we beat bulldogs etc I would text grrrrrrrrrrr only. Very simple but painfully annoying especially if done continually.

flip why "pedy" ???? You weren't the janitor at my school were you?

Lol no Bob, definitely not. In all honesty there is no rhyme nor reason for my user name - it literally just came into my head when I was registering and I thought good, surely no one else would have that silly name! lol. Then I put some laughing dolphins on as my first avatar because they kinda went well with the name - you know flipper, flippedy, and it also suits my strange and sometimes flippant personality

Was just having a laff flip, I didn't mean any offence!

I'm surprised you remember that.
Sabre was what it was originally, then changed to Saber because I'd seen it spelt that way and thought mine was incorrect. Then back to Sabre after I found out Saber was the American spelling.
