Netflix can bugger off. Not paying them anymore. They've gone all in on supporting the extremist "censor everything, it's all racist" crowd.

This week they've pulled all of Chris Lilley's shows, The Mighty Boosh, The League of Gentlemen, for not being woke enough, so I'm pulling my subscription to them.

If you think the Mighty Boosh is white supremacist, you're a goose.

Yet they allow genuinely more dangerous shows like Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘The Goop Lab’ which sprouts absolutely dangerous advice in disguise as ‘well being’

I find it very interesting indeed how now we are having to look back in history and re-assess actions/events/movies/shows of times in the past by the standards of today.

Where is the line drawn, because a lot comments I am seeing indicates banning Fawlty Towers and other shows for such minor things is too far (and I agree that it is too far fwiw). But this sentiment of viewing the past through modern lenses is where the national apology by the Prime Minister Rudd to the stolen generation came from. And a lot of people agree that that apology was a required action that we needed to do so we could acknowledge what happened and move on as a society.

In the case of censoring tv shows which were morally right and acceptable in their day, is movies the next thing to censor, then books? How about to make sure we stay pc, we re-write the tv shows and movies and books to fit our current version of what's acceptable? I think there's already a book by George Orwell about that, which they made into a movie, 1984, and though it's not on Netflix, it is on Stan. For the moment at least anyway.

The digital equivalent of book burning. Not a good sign.

That's a series called 'losers". It's some stories about sports people and teams. A soccer team in Torquay was pretty funny

Now that 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' is on Netflix in just about every country, I feel bad for every other show/movie. It is the best piece of media I have ever seen. Once you have seen it, your life splits in two: life before ATLA, and life after ATLA. A life changing experience.

Can we please ban the word woke

So hip 🙄

Drives me insane - seems more like a word that would have been used in the 12th century.

The Mighty Boosh is on Stan - maybe they bought the rights. As for other shows being pulled just makes a greater argument for getting a VPN and downloading.

Also i notice Britbox will be streaming soon in Australia - maybe they have pulled the rights to some shows that are currently shown on other streaming services in Australia.

No it was deliberately cut by Netflix, along with Little Britain and The League of Gentlemen. Glad to hear it is still on Stan.

I have been watching the Scottish comedy, Still Game. Some laughs to be had, but you will need the subtitles turned on.

On Stan - I love the "West Wing" Then again I am obsessed with US Politics for some silly reason. This series still holds together with great characters. The Politics is a little LEFTY for me but that's the other thread.

On Stan - The Great is pretty OK

Its about "Catherine the Great" in Russia a few years back. King Peter is interesting...
