Strength & Conditioning

@glebe-tiger,if you are level 1,2qualified in your opinion do you think because of the intensity that the game is being played these days, the players need more time in the gym, better diets and more vitamin and mineral intakes, legal substances I mean….the reason I say this is many moons ago when I played for Group Nine we had a coach who really made us work hard on the nautilus machine and weights to strengthen muscles in the neck, legs and upper body,he also made us eat Steak eggs and pasta. We were only club footballers in the bush,The NRL is so much more demanding, one could only imagine,so what Iam asking what can they do to help prevent so many season ending injuries..I know you can't do that much about broken bones however muscle, ligament and cartilage damage should be minimised...Wests Tigers now and forever.

Reckon if we employed Manlys supplement people of a few years ago we would be doing well.

They must be doing something right. Can't just be luck.
Imagine our current spine playing together for the next three years as the Manly spine have, barring Stewarts injuries.
There'd be some magical football.

If anyone watches the weetbix injury report on the tigers website, watching it this week it's as though they have been reading this thread…

We wish Weetbix was one of our sponsors

We need a sanitorium not sanitarium…

Seem's that way! Everything he said is 100% right, maybe the issue is possibly the way they're monitoring them. At the end of the day the coach has the final say, so an example would of been pat richards groin injury. The staff knew he had it and chose to play him hopping he'll be sweet and in the end it hasn't worked out. That's what happens in professional sport, some coaches take gambles and some don't.

As previously discussed it comes down to the level of sport science in the NRL compared to the super 15 and AFL. There's simply not enough money within NRL club's compared to the AFL or super15 to take the high performance units to the next level.

Well on a cool night we had how many players go down with cramp?

It wasnt 40° heat out there.

Didnt notice one dog player get cramp.

Has to be our conditioning.

Sometimes when the temps drop really quickly it can bring on cramps , but I'm talking 5-6 degrees in half an hour

Same conditions for both teams but only one being affected

Says something I reckon
