Sue to dogs - Official

If that's what he was on then good riddance.

An incredible under achiever and awful value for money. No wonder he wanted to stay. Anyone in management that thought an average bench prop was worth anything near that much should be sacked. Highly incompetent.

But exciting to be gaining much more cap space than one would have thought

Sauaso Sue cops an unwarranted amount of bagging on this forum.

He makes more metres per run than any other forward in our side and tackles as effectively as anyone except for Alex Twal.

Unlike some other forwards, he also adds some aggression and has a low error rate.

At 100+ games and years ahead of him, it's a smart signing for the Dogs and a sad day for us.

Sounds like youre on your own mate.

Well, me and the Bulldogs I guess.

I'm curious how so many people on this forum know what sort of money Sue was or is supposedly on and how this fits into our overall salary cap…...

It’s been two people with credible info mate. Not ‘so many’ to be curious about.

I think he’s conceding he probably won’t be here. That’s how I read it. It’s really up to the club. If we want him, I’d say he’ll stay. If he goes, we didn’t care enough to retain him.

The issue I have with players like Sue, is that they play out of their skin when they are playing for a contract. He has been going great lately, but once he signs will he revert back to plodder mode. At the right price he would definitely be worth retaining but not on what he is supposedly on now.

The issue i have with Sue and his caliber is this club will never play finals footy while they are on the books .

I have no problem with Sue leaving the Tigers but with JJ Felise & Grant left/leaving and the Tigers only signing Clark at this stage then our front row stocks are looking thin. It would be nice to know prior to season's end replacement forward signings but I guess we just have to be patient even though as a Tigers supporter my patience does get severely tested at times!!

In regards to the theory he's playing well to get a contract. If he gets re-signed, it will be a 2 year deal max. If he was to sign for a year, then he will be hungry again to secure another contract. Not a bad thing for us. Unless Cleary pulls a rabbit out of the hat and signs Taupau or Merrin, there aren't many better options out there atm. Don't see the harm in offering him another year.

Sign him for 1 year like gnr said, as an impact prop hes perfect and the short deal will give him incentive to play out of his skin for a bigger contract

I like the idea of a 1 year deal. Keeps him hungry and if he finds the consistency I’m sure we would lock him in for longer after that.

There are too many players whose form slumps just after inking a contract. It will never happen but there should be a base contract and incentive payments ie: more for a win etc. but I know those days are long gone
