Is it just me or are we the worst team in the comp in pushing up for support?

Every line break we make, there is no one there to pass the ball to. Same with Tamou’s offload that went to DCE, there should have been someone supporting. Liddle looks up at dummy half a lot and no one is ready to take it forward.

At one point Manly made a break and had at least 6 support runners.

Not sure what the issue is but I think it starts with the halves telling people where to be.

You need a good coach for that ! That’s the viable that’s missing .

Surely the coach isn’t telling them to hang back.

Yeah we're definitely ordinary in having support play around the ball - when you've got known offloaders in your team, you've got to have someone lurking around them.

Geez that was obvious twice in the couple of sets on their line in the first half that could have set the match up for us. One he had no choice but to run himself and it ruined the rest of the set.

It’s rare we make a line break so they don’t focus on that aspect of the game

I think Lauries support play is pretty poor actually he never seems in the right place .

We suck at it and it's just an effort thing. When turbo made a line break there was literally 6 manly players around him. Liddle made a break and none of our team were even close to him!

Yeah I reckon that's one of the weak points with his game.

This can be rectified at least if he is willing .

Unfortunately we have been like that for years. Support for the ball carrier is often lacking, especially after they make a break or half break. It’s like they are all getting ready for the next play-the-ball rather than playing what is happening right in front of them. Laurie seems to be the best support player we have. He is often hanging out back waiting for someone to make a break, but that’s it. After Laurie it’s zip.

Its just sad to see the opposition doing it so freely and our guys just sit back and wait for the next play.

When our boys do get off their back side and support play , its brilliant to watch. But yeah few and far between.

It's the same in defence. When a kick goes up, they just stand and watch rather than getting back to support in defence.
To be honest, I think it's an effort thing and that's up to the players. But it's the job of the coach to get it out of them.

We aren’t a team, don’t work for each other off the ball, happy to leave the yard yards to a few young guys, half the overpriced duds are being shopped to rival clubs, it’s clearly a toxic place to be.

That's a fair comment if your talking about an above average football team, but this unit just reflects 10 years of a toxic outcomes..No way forward at present unfortunately

We are underutilising Luciano Leilua. He makes 3-4 runs every game where he pops his head through and is looking for a support player to offload. Very rarely is someone there to receive one of his passes.

Our players lack the instinct of a player like Cody Walker. He has the knack of being there when one of his teammates wants to do something like that. After giving him the ball, whether it is Brooks, Doueihi, Mbye, Laurie, etc., they need to follow him. Don't die on the play.

Surely the coach isn’t telling them to hang back.

So what is happening then?

They are either not listening to him, or he isn't coaching them well?

Both situations reflect poorly on the coach.
