"SYDNEY CLUB IN FINANCIAL STRIFE

Which club is in financial strife and needed the NRL to buy one of its assets to bail it out of danger?

It's all been kept very hush-hush for fear of spooking sponsors and stakeholders.

Here's a clue… it's one of the many Sydney clubs… and won a comp in the 2010s."-

It's gotta be Manly eh? Who else could it be?

It aint the WT, so who gives a hoot

They wanted to be the only club to own their own stadium, but the development has gone south I believe. Well intentioned but a stadium out that way which can only hold 12,000 is a fairly poor investment, not sure how they ever planned to make money/see any significant capital growth. Due to the development, I don't know if they'd be able to increase capacity very much at all.

NRL recently bought the hotel adjacent to the ground, so maybe have acquired something else which was part of the development or perhaps the hotel is the 'asset' referred to.

As soon as it said "won a comp in the 2010's" i knew our mob were in the clear

Manky is privately owned isn't it? I think VLandys.would expect the owner to bail them out.
Maybe the sharks have sold shark park, they've sold everything else

That stadium is a disaster.

How is 12,000 capacity planning for the future just ridiculous.
