Sydney club in financial strife.

Sharks are very lucky they have been moderately successful in the last 10-15 years, otherwise there would be a lot of noise about moving them. Don't think the majority of the Shire could care less if they moved, let alone the rest of the league!

Souths have a huge footprint down there . But the sharks are pretty massive in the area. It’s just that the same people who love the team don’t go to the games . But if you have a max cap of 12k at a stadium , you are screwed re. Revenue .
I think at LO and C town we almost had to sell out to make a profit . And a lot of the grounds costs and facilities management is done by the local councils . The sharks fit the whole bill.
I remember when they sold the land , even the most optimistic local was worried the club would not spend it wisely .
They have gone bankrupt like 3 times I think . They needed SL to happen more than any other club . Even more than the magpies .
The main issue with the sharks is the hugely irreparable relationship with st merge .
There isn’t much sharks fans outside the shire . Even with all thier success .

Every hour is happy hour with beer
I was at Flemington races last Saturday and Carlton Draught/ Hahn Super Dry schooners, (after lots of previous complaints by patrons),were $7 all day, down from the previous $11. They also had Furphy cans on special for $5 but don’t think they could give that rubbish away( despite being official beer sponsor at Flemington).

The Sharks do have a reasonable fan base but most of them couldn't be bothered turning up to games at Shark Park (or anywhere else) when they can watch it in comfort at Northies, on their 120 inch flatscreen TV in their waterfront mansions or even on their half cabin whilst wetting a line under Tom Uglies.

Their fans are worse than Manly fans when it comes to travelling, they don't even cross the Captain Cook Bridge unless it's to look at property.

Yep . I know all too well mate . It’s a weird thing aye . Everyone I meet is a sharkies fan , yet nearly none of them go to games . It’s such a strange relationship to watch .
My father in law is a mad Souths fan . Asked him last season about their season his response “haven’t watched them all year . Who’d watxh that” . I found that so strange. Was a very shire response even though it was about a different team. Basically Blasphemy as a tigers fan . If we didn’t watch when they were bad , no one would watch at all LOL

Obviously CRONULLA - yet again being bailed out by the NRL after over-capitalising with bugger all liquidity....

But Buzz won't be reporting it....

"fans" versus genuine "supporters" is your answer...

Pathetic fair weather fans & bandwagon jumpers when the team is going well!!

The same "fans" we traditionally have in Macarthur.... jumped on in 2005 and off in 2012...
