Taane Milne (official)

with Ben Hunt coming..and the forward pack they have,
there can't be too much room in their cap. now that Widdop has been signed for good money.

Maybe Milne & Packer are waiting on Dugan to sign before making a decision, given that if he is signed then both may look elsewhere as Dragons may not have much room left in their cap to pay them what they want.

I think that is what the hold up is.

Everything hinges on Josh Bogan resigning.

signing Ben Hunt for 1.2 million a season for three years is going to put pressure on other players.
Zero tackle has Dugan listed as being paid 800K for this year. If they upgrade that then it going to be real tight. with Widdop on 700plus and Tariq Sims on $500K for the next three years. Plus Joel Thompson, Paul Vaughan, Tyson Frizell, Euan Aitken, Reece Robson, Jack De Belin all signed on long term deals.

here's some rough numbers around the Dragon's..

If the NRL 30 man cap for 2018, 9mil?
what the minimum players salary… 100K?

Ben Hunt -$1.2mil
Widdop - $800
Jack De Belin- $650K
Tariq Sims - $500K
Joel Thompson - $500K
Paul Vaughan - $500K
Tyson Frizell - $500K
Cameron McInnes - $400
Euan Aitken - $350K
Reece Robson - $350K

That's approx more than 5.5 mil on 10 players they have signed for 2018.
Dugan is asking for a mil.
which leaves less than 3 mil for the other 19 players, some of which have already signed.
no wonder they are struggling to sign Dugan, Milne & Packer.

The issue is Hunt, Widdop, Dugan. Some of The others were on old contracts De Bellin is on peanuts he signed before his breakout season and Sims was reportedly on 400k.
If they sign Dugan and we offer Packer 550k they won't get close. If Dugan leaves they will retain Packer and Milne.

Is Packer worth 550K to us. He got agro etc but I cant remember of he gives many minutes?

Taane sounds like our type of player, Here for a season or two, gets good and goes to better club

Jack De Belin only just signed a three year deal a couple of months ago and Sims is listed on Zero tackle as being on $500K for this year and the next few years, all at 500K.

I thought he did well last night against the sharks.. apart from the brainsnap pass that landed in maloneys hands he was great in defence and is aggressive. Does anybody know where contract negotiations are with him? I thought at one point he was definitely on the bus things have died out and i find it weird the dragons have not re-signed him.

That's funny

a relative of yours? Wrong side of the family maybe?!

On topic, I think Milne would be an excellent buy. Hope he does get signed.

Apart from the fact he's made of tissue and spit, I think he's quite a talented footy player. Massive bogan though (I know one when I see one :wink🙂

So On triple M yesterday Hooper reported Milne had agreed to terms with the Tigers and would be announced soon.

Should be better than Chee-Kam at least.

Tacky have you been baiting the Bulldogs fans on the Kennel?
Naughty boy.

If you guys watched the CEO and coach interview part 2 (I think), Ivan Cleary stated that the Tigers are talking to Naiqama's management for an extension. I would definitely rather Milne than Kevin. Milne is a strong young centre but if he partners Naiqama on the wing I don't think it would work that well. But, in the interview they also said there were more signings to come. So I'm guessing Milne signing will be announced in the coming days and many more signings to come before the July 30 deadline (hope so).
