Take a bow Grant Mayer

Top job Grant. Good to see a CEO know what value can be attributed to a player and to stick to it. This is a clear message to all these player managers that our CEO will not be held to ransom. If Players want overs they can go, sure it will hurt but that's the way it goes. But what is worse if we pay too much for a player like we did in the past aka Lawrence and Blair (could of been marshall too) then we would of seen in the future more up and coming players leave the club ie simona, nofo, moses, Koro, Gavet ( I realize some are already signed) etc.

I am glad Mayer is in charge and that the likes of Humphy's has been moved on he has both hands on the wheel… Also I hope that jurno Anthony Sharwood has a big enough spoon to eat that humble pie he baked for himself. Clearly has no clue how a NRL club is run. Should stick to writing horoscopes..

Gotta agree. I have also been impressed with what I have seen of Mayer. According to Irvine, the man is despised by anyone who knows him. The fact that so many of our young blokes are here for the short to medium term, would seem to put a lie to that. Either way, so long as he keeps doing his job as he has been, I'll back him.

I think that should read Irvine despises Mayer…........... for some reason....

I don't know nor have ever met Mayer…but I have written to him several times and he has replied to all bar one of my emails...and he takes the time to construct a proper reply...not a "get away" reply...Without doubt in my opinion Mayer is the best CEO the WT have ever had and I hope he hangs around for a few years to enjoy the fruits of his labour

All I know is the club is handling things really well at this point. If that is Mayer or Mayer and Potter or whoever else is involved.

Thanks for that. I must be posting a lot. I think Teddy is to blame.

I don't think he should be getting huge praise in this situation.

Farah looked like he gave him a massive serve today at the press conference. Said he felt like Tedesco felt like he had to leave. This insiders on here hinted that Mayer was forcing him out. Maybe there was an element of truth. Although it is widely reported the contract as 450K per year which I think is a generous deal offered.

People can say he got our man in the end but only because he had a change of heart. We got lucky in the end here.

I think Mayer went in hard against Ayoub and forgot a little that Teddy, the main man is still a young guy not exposed to contract negotiations. He needed a different tact from the start.

That and the Campbelltown game move were both risky strategies but both paid off, even if they weren't ideal way of getting there.

Overall he seems to be going well as ceo, he's probably the right guy to have at the helm for the club to build towards the Grandfinal, and he can probably capitalize on such success better than Noyce did back in 05.

Robbie has now confirmed to you what I already said about the Wests Tigers management.
Both Mayer and Ayoub seem to have had a personal battle going at James Tedesco's expense.
But Mayer has come out of this pretty good after a really bad start.
Ayoub on the other hand..what can I say…Just get a more professional manger Teddy. Someone that doesn't play everything out in the media and respects your wishes.

Still not sold on Mayer …...... not convinced he handled the Teddy case with aplomb.
Hopefully the new board will give him the direction to manage the club within their jurisdiction.

Don't think a CEO can be blamed for a manager advising his young client to go elsewhere. Kids put the whole trust into these blokes because they pay them to do the best thing by them. Doesn't mean that the trust is payed back with sound advice. Managers have dollar signs in their eyes. CEO's have an entire club to consider.

It's been said in other posts ….. The manager works FOR the player. If Teddy wanted to stay ( which he obviously did) then Ayoub works hard on Mayer to get the best deal from the tigers. That does not include all of the media mucking around, tours to other teams etc etc etc. teddy should never have been put in the position of "signing" for a team he never wanted. Totally 100% Ayoubs fault.
Teddy once it's all done, get a more professional manager who thinks of you and not his own bank balance.

Id comment about Mayer and Ayoub negotiations But just realised I wasn't in the meeting and wouldn't have a clue So I will just blame terry lamb instead

at the end of the day we could never match what Canberra offered teddy. If we did we would be stuffed in 2-3 years time with the cap, we would be bleeding players year in year out.

As for Farrah giving it a serve. He did say the club as a whole has to improve. So I say where was our leadership group (ie Farrah, woods, blair, Lawrence etc) when teddy needed to make a decision?? he instead went and found benji, moltzen and anasta. That's not Mayer's fault. Teddy shopped himself to the raiders flew down and checked it all out on the recommendation of his manager. Once all the other signings fell through that was it for him. Why would you go any way, he can win a comp at the tigers.

Mayer is trying to fix this mess of a cap that humphry's left him. He stood his ground on a deal that in my opinion is a great deal for 29 game NRL player.

Yeah,he must have a huge extended family because everywhere you go on social media there are large numbers of posts saying how great he is which is strange praise for a RL Club employee that is unknown personally to the writers.I don't have a PO either way but i can say the Tedesco affair & Brian Smith have the tongues wagging inside the Tiges.

Blaming Mayer for the Tedesco fiasco doesn't sit well with me. Tedesco to me has to be blamed if anyone is however he is really a young kid and I think he was given some poor advice.

Just remember Farah isn't totally unbiased here.
Who is Farah's manager…?!

But I think Ayoub would receive a bit more if he took the contract worth 200k+ more a year?
