Take of this what you will. could be true, could be a rumour

smith was probably the guy we should have gone with instead of potter originally, he would of done the clean out and deflating of big egos from day dot. would have been ok for 2-3 seasons but i'd be steering well clear of this guy now , especially after what's transpired post review.

But he has made 4 gf's. Thats a lot more than the majority of coaches who have ever coached in the NRL. Some of you talk about him like he's Ricky Stuart for gods sake.

Ricky Stuart's made 3 grand finals… And won one

(For the record I wouldn't want either of them)

I don't want Smith as as coach either (his coaching days are past). However, Ricky Stuart made three finals with a team that was handed to him. My grandmother could have coached that Roosters side.

Brian Smith took over Parramatta when they were an absolute rabble and basketcase. He turned them into a consistent, top side. He did the same with St George.

Anyone who says he can't coach is full of shit. Stop listening to hacks with agenda's like Hadley and Rothfield.

I stopped reading after it said the Warriors were circling. They just signed McFadden to a 3 year deal and are going great under him - they'd have no interest in Potter.

Stuart also has about half a dozen wooden spoons, Smith doesn't.

Smith is a good coach. Only issue he's ever had is that he can get a team to the big dance but they've all lacked that something extra to take the trophy home. He's also a great hatchet man when you need someone to come in and make the tough calls.

I'd say that Smith is a bit long in the tooth and we don't really need a blood letter as Potter has done a lot of that on his own. While I think we can do without him, it's not because he cannot coach. I reckon Canberra would be a great destination for him.

How did the board expect their playing and coaching groups to react to Smith waltzing in and stirring up trouble? Was he just there as an "efficiency expert" to get a predetermined result, thereby giving the board excuses to take action and have someone to blame should everything go belly-up? Whoever made that decision was responsible for much of this instability and needs to go, and if it didn't start at board level they have proven themselves incapable of keeping it out of the press and managing the situation effectively. Instead of stability we have factions with personal agendas pulling against each other, and integrity has gone right out the window with agreements and contracts proving completely worthless. It's simple really - choose the right people, sign them up, and let them do their jobs full term - if they stuff up it's not their fault, it's the fault of whoever contracted them in the first place. Too much infighting and too little accountability.

Please give it a rest for the rest of the season. As I have said 100 times before do NOT take any notice of anything or anyone who is not connected to the club.

Just get behind the team and let the season play out.

I think if supporters let the season play out, then those creating the challenges we face would get away with knifing a perfectly able and committed coach without question. Then, down the track we inevitably would go through the whole process again. This type of garbage needs to stop.

Exactly right magpiecol, but sad to see the effect it has on our coach and captain. Too much media involvement, and too many journalists getting free air time at our expense.

It's like Groundhog Day, wd in Perth. I didn't think Sheens was doing much of a job, but look what his contract was worth once the knives came out. It didn't just cost him a job he loved, it damaged his reputation too. He was loyal, we weren't.

I agree wd. The drivers of these agenda that destabilise the team and club are hoping that we will get tired of the whole thing and put our heads in the sand. That's how they operate; blind side attack, then hide. Wait for the storm to blow over and have another go.
What happened on Sunday wasn't just a media blow up. It was a targeted attack that used the media as its vehicle, and it worked. However it effectively drew attention to some questionable decisions going on in Tigers management and highlighted very great shortcomings in how they operate.
I'm not going to resile from that position and put my head in the sand.
