Take Out The Emotion (As Hard As It May Be)

Does anyone know the best way to just temporarily cut this team out of your life, because mentally, I can’t watch this team for a while. I was stressing about this game days before and once that Brooks field goal went dead, I kicked the life out of a bin and couldn’t speak to anyone for a good hour. I’m embarrassed to be a supporter but I’m more embarrassed of how I act watching my team play and how I act after. As I’m sure heaps on here do, I can’t not watch but I feel for a few weeks I need to. Any genuine tips would be appreciated

Watch us for a few more years, the losses will just fall off you like water off a ducks back!

we need dept. look at panthers never lost a game until injury. but storm a few injury not a problem the replacement is just as good. we wont get any dept by buying marquee. buy a few ok dept first. we so far got laurie and ken mamaulo for good price, does the job until we snap a few more good buys then better oportunity will open

You available for a head coaching role Benj?

How anyone still gets emotional, I’ll never know. I haven’t been emotionally invested since Tedesco left. That broke me. The only reason I still watch them is out of habit. It’s a numb feeling though, which on nights like tonight, is very convenient.

I cant understand the wrist slashing from some on here...we have been a club embroiled by board killers, suicidal coaches, players taking over team management and knowing more than the coach, club debt, poor retention and recruitment,CEO penalised and suspended, club fines and we still are one of the clubs with the most members....

Madge comes along, puts his head on the chopping block and says he will change the culture, fix the pathways we lost interest in,recruit fine quality youth to make NRL standard ,club build a CEO,club cuts losses financially, deadwood slowly going and sponsorship increase....

We are performing poorly atm on field but at least we are in with a chance in 2022 to start forming a very good NRL team...its been said before ""it takes time""...

To tell you the truth I have been a member and followed this club since inception,my emotions stopped quite a while ago...but I still back Madge,Hartigan,Pascoe and the club to come out of this in great shape in a couple of years time...I can wait, pay my membership, have a gripe now and then, but always have a beer and say """maybe next year"" ......cheers....

I gave you an up vote to counteract the idiot who down voted you. I'm sick of morons on this forum wit their petty agendas hitting a button because they don't agree with someone. Whoever gave TT the down one at least have the guts to say why. No doubt it is someone who bags the gutless efforts of the team to then reply to a post with a gutless effort.

It's a game, mate. It's not life defining. Do you think the players care about their play affecting your mental health? Of course they don't. They'll already be over losing last night. We should be too.

I liked my grandmother's attitude to footy when it came on TV; "just give 'em all a ball and they'll stop fighting over that one". Thats about as serious as it is.

Just because you don’t take something seriously doesn’t mean others shouldn’t. Maybe if we had less like you within the club and a bit more care factor, say like at the Storm, things might change.

If you are not in lockdown go down to a local juniors game. Recommend 12s to 17s.Buy a pie and enjoy. At these ages it’s pretty raw and are under coached.
Then when season is finished nrl finals will be on and the tigers won’t be there to cause frustration

Yep - i'm off to see the Lake Cathie Raiders cop another hiding in the Hastings League - but the pies are hot, the steak sandwiches are a mouth watering delight and the beer is in cans and cold. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon on the Hill at the Sandpit.

Emotion is Rugby League..

Maybe if the players as a majority not just a few put some emotion into their performance....we would win more games..

1) Upfront 400k of mbye in 2020, shop him whilst chipping in 400k for 2021.
2) DO NOT extend brooks, he has 2 years to run on his contract I think - that is long enough to bring through some of the younger prospects. No one is going to pay more for than what he is currently on so we are no going to lose him unless we want to
3) keep plugging away for talent youth, especially ones that can’t get a run at the strong clubs
4) go all in when the transformational play comes along (Latrell, Smith etc)

I'm not pointing at anyone specifically, but sometimes I just wonder about the lack of intelligence by some on this forum.

Everyone's opinion is equal, so its nothing to do with that, but its the people who genuinely belief the bullshit that journalists write, or they bag someone because they have a shit haircut or whatever. Those people must be trolls, idiots, or have no idea what they are talking about.

There is certainly a change in culture and regardless of whether or not the coach is still here, or the CEo, or anyone else when we get better, the fact is the culture is changing and the free rides are finished and we are positioning ourselves as a club which will have more than a fragile foundation, which we've had for the past 20 years.

Yeah that shattered me too bro.
Even though I tell myself to care a little less, I can't help it. I still get upset every game we lose

Emotions aside.
As if .......
In the cold light of the day after, what are we expected to feel?
Emotions motivate us, they make us want to do things.
Even feel the highs and lows (or ebbs and flows, if you like) of the team we choose to support.
Talk about tested to the limits.
Our footy is driven by emotions.
All fans experience many different emotions.
Fans sometimes feel shame for their team’s losses, on and/off the field (so much so that we might feel "ambushed!")
The certainty of playing some type of consistent "brand" of footy is (in my mind) long long ago, akin to Benji in his heyday. Every team needs that special X factor.
So, to take the emotion out of this discussion is just an impossibility - from the ordinary fan's perspective.
And there is no real blame here on the part of the players. Individually, they are limited.
The real ability to effect positive change can only come with cool heads and here is where the problem lies: is our management able to actually turn this dysfunctional ship around?

After yesterdays pathetic 2nd half against the Worriers I will not watch the rest of tales from toothless tigertown 🐯 😤

Grass roots is a great way to get back into the game. Unfortunately my son is in the 16s and they don’t serve beer but next year he makes the jump to under 18s and they play before the seniors so will be happy days after June as he will have his Ps then too. Good times ahead ?
