Rick Wayde? Same guy that was there in the 80s? He must be 130 now.

I think that's a pretty ignorant view of the impact that a board of directors should have. Look at the rooster's board - the players would be proud to play for those guys, titans of industry or leaders on the field back in the day. Who wouldn't love a game of golf with Nick or Mark Bouris? They're well-connected and can help set the players up for success later in life.On field success can only come from the Football department ( Wests Tigers).
When it comes down to the HBGroup ,it's their financial support that keep the Football side functioning,it would make more sense that the debenture holders of HBGroup to be more vigilant about the successful operations of all the clubs, they have a financial stake in operations. The three directors that have been removed are not debenture holders. One of the directors that made the decision to remove the three is a Barrister so pretty confident that he has recognised something untoward.
Here here!!! I do understand that is the plan too.I think that's a pretty ignorant view of the impact that a board of directors should have. Now, can you imagine how our players feel looking at these current faceless middle manager types? It doesn't inspire a culture of success. These guys have a direct impact on the players lives. I wouldn't want to put myself in their hands.
HBG should hold a level of veto power to dissolve the board. They still should have ultimate control. But for the success of the club, we need titans on the WT board. If we have mediocrity at the top, it will continue to play out on the field and in recruitment. I can guarantee that.

From the recent picture of him in the article- yep, a lot older- like all of us - but certainly cant fault his love of the football club.Rick Wayde? Same guy that was there in the 80s? He must be 130 now.
Without the financial backing from HBG Wests Tigers would not be able to operate independently.

No not an ignorant view ,thank for your opinion on my comment.I think people are selecting who they place blame on when it comes down to the level of medI think that's a pretty ignorant view of the impact that a board of directors should have. I see there is confusion when reading my comments regards the two boards but I appreciate your negative comment regards my view.I'm saying that the HBG board have not run the Football JV ,this has been run by Wests Tigers board so any measure of mediocrity/ failures should lie at their feet, they are two separate boards.I agree that being the majority owner and main financial supporter of the Wests Tiger they rightly should have contol over how their funding is utilised if not why would they keep handing over money to keep the JV going.I think that's a pretty ignorant view of the impact that a board of directors should have. Ignorant take. The football department needs stability and the club to have a strong brand so it can recruit a capable squad. HBG is a clown show.On field success can only come from the Football department ( Wests Tigers).

He did a lot of the heavy lifting during the troubled mid 80s right? His commitment is commendable but it might be time to give it away. From the recent picture of him in the article- yep, a lot older- like all of us - but certainly cant fault his love of the football club.
Running leagues clubs and professional sporting clubs are very different things. They can’t keep their affairs out of the papers. Nobody wants to read about schnitzel and pokies. The HBG/WA Wests Group has been a very efficiently run well directed organisation for decades.........spanning multiple venues properties as well as ownership of the WT and Magpies as well as providing grants to Balmain's juniors. They have been totally behind the Wests Tigers since inception including as a major backer.
The idea that HBG are a shitshow is ludicrous.
Questions re the fitness of HBG directors doesn't stack up when one considers the success of the group. Most directors have been there for years or decades and its experience enough.
The HBG have had very good stability re their management and directors.......and can't recall anything like this rupture.
Obviously, this is the manifestation of the petition/review process which sadly has finally bought instability. There may be questions from some at HBG as to whether the process of ceeding control of the WT is in the owners best interests.
Any benefits derived from the review process re the appointment of Richardson and the replacement of certain board members is quickly going into reverse as the HBG enters instability and we have lost David Gilbert as well as Rick Wayde, two very experienced administrators spanning decades after already having list John Dorahy.
Fair points MM but not sure the benefits of the review process are going into reverse. The HBG/WA Wests Group has been a very efficiently run well directed organisation for decades.........spanning multiple venues properties as well as ownership of the WT and Magpies as well as providing grants to Balmain's juniors. They have never run the football side of tge JV that's been the Tigers board, if they were to pull out of the JV that would be the end of the Wests Tigers as an company.Running leagues clubs and professional sporting clubs are very different things. Time to sell up the football operation in my view. They’ve failed for a decade and a half.
They own it, Expenses are part of business.
If they were to sell Wests Tigers - It would still run....
Plenty would argue not only continue to run, but run a hell of a lot better than it has been.

Wouldn't the constitution of the WT & the relevant legal docs for the appointment of 4 independent directors be signed off on now if those independent directors are now being publicly recruited for?
What I'm saying is things can't be reversed if HBG has signed off on the new WT board constitution. And I'm assuming this given the recruitment process being underway.
Might be risky presuming the club hasn’t done things arse about.Fair points MM but not sure the benefits of the review process are going into reverse.

How are those three going?Instability at HBG is reverse.
Do you think the independent directors, two of which will be ladies will offer more to improving football operations than John Dorahy, David Gilbert and Rick Wayde?
It’s the same muppets on each board.
