Haha... man you love to twist and dramatise things. You should write for woman's day!

I did not say that he would be a good candidate. I said he has more qualifications than most on there. Which is true. But also it was very much a tongue in cheek comment. I would not recommend him for the board for the exact reason you stipulated... and that we can do better.

Yep, gotta agree with you Magpie_Magic re. this WTF being heavily dominated by pro Balmain Tigers fans.

Being a very old Magpies supporter, I found out very soon after joining that if you dare to say something pro Magpies, you'll cop a hiding as it's immediately taken as being anti-Balmain, and that's very unfair as I have never meant it to be that way. I have just been telling it as I see it and I get put down for it.

There has been a couple of posters recently who expressed their feelings from a Magpies point of view, @bus to terrigal being one, was strongly criticized for his feelings [and his posts were always respectful] but he/they haven't been back since.
I wonder how many others that has happened to over the years?

There must be quite a few old Magpie supporters on here that feel as Magpie_Magic and I do, but for whatever reason they don't come forward to express their pov. apart from saying "I used to follow the Magpies, but I now follow Wests Tigers.

I reckon their reason is though, they don't want to be put down for their views to such an extent that they no longer feel welcome on here, even though they enjoy Our Forum as I do.

Magpie_Magic hasn't called for the Balmain side of our JV to be deleted, and either have I.

I feel a lot of the criticism directed at M_M and I comes from a place of insecurity within the JV, and I can understand that, with the ownership of Our Wests Tigers being 90% in favour of the Magpies, but that's just the way it is, and I gotta tell Yuh I would feel insecure if the boot was on the other foot.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to our new look Wests Tigers putting in a vastly improved performance in 2025.

Why do so many people on here make "tongue in cheek comments" when it can be so misleading?

Where has anyone been pro balmain? Show me the quote. I've litterally said to kick the balmain guys out and I'm ex balmain.

People cop a hiding for being pro Magpies because it bloody holds us back. People are tired of old allegences.

Sadly always been like that here.

I've been posting on here 20 years with the same one and only account so don't run agendas. Most can't handle my username lol.

And when we post with a so called Western Suburbs outlook or being pro Magpies, it doesn't mean bringing back the magpies, rather our outlook within the Wests Tigers which will always be a JV. It's why we now support the WT just as why many Balmain fans do same but it's anathema to most who unfortunately have pushed us away from here, many a good poster has gone whilst many of them run multiple accounts often openly calling for the dissolution of the JV and sometimes even the return of Balmain.......without getting called out......except occasionally by myself.

Without the old clubs there isn't much for me in this club. The old clubs are why we have evolved into supporting the Wests Tigers. Without that edge and spice, this club would be a pretty banal entity.

And yes unfortunately there is some gas lighting on here, recall initially when Balmain became insolvent some of the posts were like, where's Harry, fearing they'd be swallowed up, a projection of what would've happened if reverse occurred, so unfortunately now some still fearing retribution under a Wests controlled board are doing their utmost to change the situation. Little they know the magnanimous attitude the magpies had and still have.......there wasn't even an utterance at meetings where speakers would often talk about supporting Balmain because the magpies suffered so much during the 80s.

The late chairman Mike Bailey was the recipient of many a vile post. His Rugby League credibility was called into question whilst subsequent chairs Marina Go and Barry O Farrell were never subjected to same.

The Magpies aren't going anywhere within the JV.

This is the point that you fail to understand mate, the majority of us aren't pro Balmain, we are pro Wests Tigers.

You have openly called for the return of the Magpies, just because you change your name doesn't negate the what you said under the old username. Your preference is for the return of the Magpies, you have stated this.

I have seen Balmain called out for their actions on here alot, with virtually no one defending them.

The review wasn't a clandestine attack on the Magpies, it was about giving the Wests Tigers the best chance for success. I think these comments are incredibly disrespectful to Gary Barnier and Tony Crawford.

The fact this is still a discussion 12 months after the acceptance of the review recommendations is a big issue.

I don't want the Magpies to go anywhere, I want the HBG to implement the recommendations of the review that they implemented.
 
I’ve never attempted to give advice to the Mods before , but they really need to put a stop to people here trying to stir up the Wests Magpies v Balmain thing ..,nothing good can come of it and a lot of it is just people revisiting ancient history …

A suggestion - maybe have a dedicated thread in the Feeder Clubs sub forum where this can be argued to the death by the few that want to indulge in it … and safely ignored by most others

Yep
- And the filtering of them through to the HBG is killing us.
If not for those 'types' surely Wests Ashfield would align themselves with the Wests Tigers
- It a national, Soon to be International (if not already) Brand.

I can't imagine the majority of the customers at WA,
know the relevance of the Magpie above the Front Door....
The Wests Tigers logo would be instantly recognisable, To almost all people....
 
Success shuts up the disgruntled fan no matter where they originate from.
Put the right people in positions who's aim is to see WTs flourish instead of people who have allegiances that they can't separate from and then this club will reach its potential - and the old fans hiding behind veils of the past will have no voice.

It'd just be the same two muppets complaining about all the supposed 'pro Balmain' posts on here.

The two 'sides' shouldn't even exist and just be a distant memory, same as the (terrible) football clubs they'd turned into by the end of the 90s.
