I'm tired of this being turned into a Magpies v Balmain issue. I'm going to steal the HBG press release style for this post.

FACT: The governance at the HBG has been dysfunctional and the Wests Tigers needs better.

FACT: The governance at the Wests Magpies has been dysfunctional and the Wests Tigers needs better.

FACT: The governance at the Balmain Tigers has been dysfunctional and the Wests Tigers needs better.

If you disagree with any of the above you may just be looking at this through the lense of your former club.

This is not a Magpies v Balmain issue, the useless people involved at both have run the Wests Tigers into the ground.

The club was only back from holidays yesterday. Having the owners and club management provide one statement/podcast together makes total sense.

I've really thought the fans would be happy with this confirmation.

I think the vast majority of us are Gallagher. But me personally will hold my joy until the inks actually dry on the paperwork and our board is finally autonomous and independant.
It's not that us fans aren't happy were just really cynical. We're not silly it was obvious what HBG were trying to do.
The podcast confirming that were getting the directors is awesome news, but it happened because of media, political and fan pressure. I'll never forget what they tried to do. So though I'm stoked we will get our independence I'm still livid at what the HBG tried to do, now they've backed down they can act like everything is hunky dorey but as far as I'm concerned I wouldn't pee on their teeth if their gums were on fire. That's Romeros mob and the 3 who were punted, they're all as selfish, stupid and useless as eachother.

And I've seen nothing to believe they are not enacting that. Richardson re-affirmed it yesterday.

I have seen and heard plenty that there was walk back on implementation. My reaction wasn't to news articles and it wasn't to directors who got suspended.

I am comfortable in the course of action i have taken and 100% believe the it was necessary.

I am happy with the reassurances we got from richo and Barry on Tuesday and are happy to watch and wait on how this plays out.

I will be extremely happy to have this behind us when the audit into the implementation of the review is completed.

To maintain control of the Tigers. Once the independant board members are put onto the Wests Tigers board HBG influence is diluted to the point that the board member will only be there to report back to HBG about what's being discussed. It's about control Gallagher. HBG boardroom can do as they please for the HBG noone has an issue with that, the issue is the factions on the Tigers board this includes Balmain who aren't there for the WestsTigers best interest but for the interest for the organisations who place them there. Our board from day 1 has been absolutely dysfunctional. Once we get the independant directors in we will finally have a WestsTigers board. Not a board made up of HBG, Wests Campbelltown and Balmain reps.

Got you sorry mate, like I said I think it was purely about control, I think there's been something stirring in the background since HBG brought out Balmains share and took a 90% stake.
I genuinely believe just like the dinosaurs at Balmain who refuse to move on, there are dinosaurs at HBG who genuinely believe they can bring the Magpies back. Pretty much everyone understands now Balmain Tigers and Wests Magpies are gone. But there are always diehard fans who can't let go and move on. For Balmain members in the media to claim that they want to help a Kiwi bid is one thing, it's just all stupidity and talk. But it's diffrent if boardmembers or people with influence at HBG hav a desire to bring the Magpies back as they control the Wests Tigers financially and in the boardroom. So I believe the coup was led and successfull in the HBG board because there was support in winding back the review to maintain control of the WestsTigers in hopes one day of reverting back to the Magpies. Everyone understands it will never happen but I genuinely believe that was the goal. Not revert back immediately but maintain control as a priority for the possibility in the future. In saying that had Balmain been in the same position HBG are in now with a 90% stake iv no doubt they would have attempted the same exact thing and iv no doubt they would have copped just as much for their stupidity.

Its all about control, power, money and greed. The first time I lay my eyes on that woman on the podcast she seemed out of place. You feel she dont want to be there. She dont GAF. She looks out of place. Who TF is she? How did she inherit this position? Again. This is not about Wests Tigers unfortunately- but making sure my family is set up for life. You nailed it in your first sentence.

I totally agree with you. What is a bit annoying is the suggestion from quite a few on her that what was said wasn't credible. At some point you have to take people at face value. I will be shocked if we don't have the independent directors on board by the end of the month. If we don't then forumers should feel free to tear in.
My biggest concern is that there may not be enough quality applicants to produce a quality board. If there aren't, I'd rather delay selection on one or more positions until that quality emerges. I'd like to see some judicious shoulder-tapping as long as that doesn't compromise the independence of the choices.
