Why would I be offended ? Balmain arnt providing anything financially , it they do have the junior area , and quite honestly the stronger legacy in the field . So when the journos go for a rent a quote , they’re usually after a Benny or a blocker because they’re a bigger name in the sport .
At the moment this is being used negatively , but there was a time 10 years ago when it was the opposite . So it just depends how you use the resource .

On the contrary I want a strong WT with a strong Wests brand within the Wests Tigers brand.

This is very important for HBG so we will not tolerate a negative view of the Wests brand within the WT.

If rent a quote existed to some former heroes this will need to be corrected.

Why is it any of your concern how HBG is run now that an independent board is in place to run WT. if you are a member of the club I could see some reason to be interested but if you are just a fan of WT then I’m not sure why you’d care any more than I care about how Canterbury Leagues is run. Not trying to start a war here, just interested.

My main point though is...balmain boy said "let's hope the independents are indeed independent".
This is just a hypothetical...I wonder what would happen if the independents actually turned against the Balmain board member for legitimate reasons and the Magpies were able to rule the roost as Magpies do.
But then I guess if you only have a minor share in the club as Balmain did before the independents came on board the board 😉, if things go pear shaped for them, they've lost nothing as they basically started with nothing.

At work, something happened this week that made me think a alot about the tigers and the board. We are basically stopping 20 projects to put every one on to 1, starting this week. Even if you're not needed on the main project, you need to be available to stuff envelopes, call stakeholders, lift spirits with a coffee run whatever. The main project was already in good shape but we are trying to go from good to the best thing we can possibly deliver. This is the closest we come in my field to "playing for a premiership", and everyone needs to bring their A game every day as much as possible. My best guess right now is we will smash it because we are well run, have people that the competition don't have and can't mimic, and we are hyperfocused on success but if any of those things change we will fail. Even if our cleaner stops showing up and people start complaining about a dirty kitchen then there is a risk.

Applying this to the tigers. If you want to win you need to do everything in your power to have an ace in every slot. You can still win if you don't but you need more luck (out of your hands), a lack of competition (not the case in the NRL), or a team/player that is uniquely gifted that it doesn't matter (immortals, not good players). After really having to reflect on how everyone has to play their part to increase the likelihood of success, I'm hopeful that the board now has the right composition to play their part (even if not all board members are aces). I'm also more convinced than ever that our terrible off field performance has made success virtually impossible because it makes the whole organisation second rate. We need to be a little optimistic right now though. Premiership windows opens in 2026 if the whole club ahas truly improved and if Benji and the squad get this year right. We should fold if the next 2 or 3 years are a flop.

Ok.
The petition generated some interest but Richardson is calling the shots and he is very positive about HBG - they are his employers after all - and at this point he has made it abundantly clear that he has their full support.
He is probably the only person who can impact on any other significant changes and can't see that being an objective at this point in time given the already major shift at board level.
I'd say the focus shifts now to Benji and the team.

Goodness me - we finally get our independent board up and running and O'Farrell goes and shoots his mouth off about the rail strike ,unions in general and Chris Minns inadequacies. No doubt he would have been baited by the daily rag reporter but surely he could of deflected this by saying his focus is purely on WT.
