@TigersBusDriver Agree.
Talau looks a great prospect though

1 Mbye
Even with that outcome I just feel our backline is still one classy game breaker short.

Yeah, I don't think we have a fullback for next year. Mbye and Thompson both seem like capable standins but not a genuine fullback in NRL level. Other than that, not bad.

Yes that’s pretty much our gap I’m afraid. Not easy to fill with what we need. I could live with something like Gagai (swap with Matterson) or I could even take a chance with Moylan or Dugan from the shire if a low cost deal can be reached where the sharks pay a high % of the contract.

Wouldn't want any of them myself.

If I had to pick I'd take Moylan over Dugan.....

no way we can afford Gagai's asking price of 1 trillion yen.

Which gagai? Origin or rabbitohs?

Speed is certainly not Talau's game. He's not slow, but not fast either. I'd guess similar to Momirovski, maybe slightly quicker. Still above average but he's no speedster. His game is based on skill and instincts. A step to get past his opponent then a flick pass to put his outside man away. Or a nice cutout ball to take advantage of an overlap.
I'm very conscious of how we constantly manufacture players in positions. I think he's played less than 80 mins of wing in his life.

@balmain-boy He would be one of the fastest in our backline, long strides. A tall target and classy player, I've played with him at Moorebank rams. He is a hard working young boy, if he wants to succeed he needs to keep up his work ethic, the talent is there. He has a bright future, be it at 6 or in the centres, I like the look of him at centre, needs to work on his defence though.

@Madge my mate at moorebank rams had something to do with this club side and I was talking to him on Saturday and apparently talau , averillo (bulldogs top 30) Ryan gray (dev player bulldogs), Garrety (roosters), Dillon all played in this club side. Not sure if that's correct I was half tanked, maybe you can confirm or deny this madge. He did tell me they all have ability, he told me he saw Dillon run down young riszk in a club game within 40 yards and he reckons rizk had a 15metre head start, hard to believe but he told me it was in a game at hammondville, ryde vs moorebank, maybe you can confirm or deny madge if you were playing?

@fred can’t recall but I’d say it’s close to right. Dillon reminds me of Dufty and and Rizk reminds me of Papenhuyzen (in terms of speed). Dillon has this oozing glide to his run which while 15m most probably was exaggerated, Dillon is faster than Rizk.

@balmain-boy I totally agree. I saw him play the first few Jersey Flegg games on the right edge at centre and he really created opportunities for those outside him who could then use their speed to score. I think centre is his best spot and if he has a speedy winger outside him like Nofa he is going to set up plenty of tries.

I'm excited about his future. We do however have to pick him in the right spot.

@Madge I think Tommy in the centres and Rizsk and Dillon on the wings in a year or so could be the makings of a speedy, dynamic backline although we might need a bit more height for taking bombs etc.

Good on young tommy wherever we play him hope he becomes big aggressive player, with skill, and hope 2 or 3 of the other kids kick on also.

I agreed with you right up to the part of you writing about having "a speedy winger outside of him like Nofa" then I disagreed vehemently. We need wingers with genuine pace over 100metres.

This isn't meant to sound critical , but when you think of back 5 players since Tedesco who is the best that has come through ......

No one standouts from memory

Papenhuyzen ....

Happy you are bordering on this being sent to the Lament Thread. I prefer to call it the WTs' Stuff Up Thread. Papenhuyzen is one of the biggest.

Any surprise I guess since arguably the best talent spotter we ever had left in 2012 .....about the same time much of the talent seemed to drop off big time

@pawsandclaws1 OK maybe my bad. I thought Nofa was pretty quick. Hard to find wingers these days then with genuine speed. If we do, Tommy will set them up.
