Tallyn Da Silva #270

I know there’s another issue behind it all.

Wouldn’t be as big of an issue outside of football.

I won’t publicly draw attention to the specific issue. But I do think there is a few who know in the game

Reading in the thread, where some of comments and theories were going. I have attempted to realign the discussion or expectations.
What does ^^^^^^ mean...

This situation hasnt got to the point that he is requesting a release organically. There has been a clear breakdown in relationships through what Id suggest is poor communication from management. This kid was not talking like this a few months ago.
As for setting a standard that players cant break contract...I absolutely agree but as you pointed out, the player holds the power once it gets to that stage.
Anzac Day Zero Tackle reported Richardson admitting the club may lose him at the end of his contract and there was a strong chance he may test the market with rivals interested. The main reason is that News Corp reported WTs were offering Koroisau a new deal and there is a shortage of quality dummy halves plus the expansion teams.

When do you think we will hit our stride ,if ever? Why?
Excellent question.

Realistically I am thinking towards the end of the Richovian era. By that time, we should have a better office and administration in situ, better coaching staff, better players and so forth.

But the longevity of that will depend upon whether we can entice the right people to work for us longer term.

And I think that foundation is critical.

I am hoping Benji becomes a 20 year coach...
I think he has what it takes...
Doing pretty well considering he came in with 0 experience.. only way is up.

Yeah maybe this is true but let’s focus on TDS. It’s clear, he is quality and has huge potential, certainly above the average local junior.

So for the sake of the future of the club, we need to keep him. Can we please finally keep a high quality junior. It’s been a very long time since we have (Brooks maybe)

He will attract players and we can finally build a team around him and others. He’s got 12 more years left in him….12

And if don’t, it’ll just be the same old thing.
He has ‘huge potential’ - yep but not yet better than API
Can we keep high quality juniors - not if they want to go because someone better is in front of them

Come on lets not be deluded, he has no kicking game he offers no deception around the ruck. His strength is his running game, that is it. Api can kick short, or long such as the 40/20 on Friday that was incorrectly not called, Api can also control and manipulate the ruck. Sadly your boy TDS has shown none of these skills, he might gain them but he hasn't so far and normally great hookers have these skills early doors.
He is a work in motion. No doubt about it. Thats why he is the understudy for the next year and a half.
Api has his faults too mate.
He throws some dreadful passes due to the fatigue of being targeted in defence.
He has also been consistently getting worse for missed tackles.
22 = 6th worst in the comp @ Penrith
23 = 2nd worst in the comp @ Tigers
24 = Worst in the comp @ Tigers
25 = 2nd worst in the comp and coming into our run against good attacking clubs @ Tigers

Thats right.
So what was Richo doing or saying about this for it to get to the point that this local junior was upset enough to test the market?
This was certainly not what he had been saying up until this point publicly.

Where? Can you link me
Heres some where he talks about learning from Api and one day taking over when Api hangs up his boots. There probably plenty more, Ive seen him say this stuff when interviewed after games as well.

To be fair on Api, a lot of his misses come when he is charging in to make first contact in an effort to speed up the defensive line.

He does miss important tackles, but not even close to highest in the comp.

I agree, and applaud Ryles for his gutsy decision.
To wander down your path - Api was the hooker in the side that did win the spoon, no?
(not that it was his fault) - just sayin 🤔

If our Fullback was as Meat and Potatoes as Gutho
- We'd all be screaming for a new one.

Gutho got more of a run under BA than anyone else would have given him at Fullback
(Came there as a centre I believe)
They needed to move on - They'd well and truly juiced him.

So in 2027, it will be Api or TDS, some people would still rather Api?

TDS who could potentially be a top tier player (Yes we could actually have one) with 10-12 years in front of him, or APi on a steep incline.

Really?

The problem with the pro-Api camp is they are measuring the 25 version and not what he’ll be like 2 seasons down the track.

I'm pro Api...
But I think we certainly should be looking for a successor for 18 months time
- Or we throw Hayward to the Wolves - Like all the other kids.

That should probably be Da Silva - And Benji and Richo should probably make that happen.

Thats right.
So what was Richo doing or saying about this for it to get to the point that this local junior was upset enough to test the market?
This was certainly not what he had been saying up until this point publicly.

It was already at "that point" because -

1. The club intended to re-sign Koroisau according to the News Corp report
2. Numerous clubs expressed interest due to a shortage of dummy halves in the NRL.

Agree to disagree champ.

This is a perfect example of stats not telling the full picture... you know who leads the comp for missed tackles right now? Kurt Capewell & yet you hear nothing about him being a bad defender.
