Tallyn Da Silva #270

Opinions change with evidence and new information. That point we’d only lost 2 in a row. Now it’s 6 and we are slowly descending down the ladder. What other conclusion would one come to?
You were very adamant that there was no chance, and mentioned how bad the Knights were. Opinions do change, but you very strong is saying how poor everyone else’s opinion was 6 weeks ago. Does my head in.

You don’t release players you rate 18 months out. And if you do, it says a lot for the club that they can’t manage the situation and come to some sort of resolution. Either way, the club comes out of it with a black eye.
You release them if there's more to it and there was NO resolution possible. Would be the same result if it happened at the broncos or doggies ..
But keep crying mate if that's what gets you through the day.

I'm gonna say I don't much mind if TDS is released. I am unsure if he is going to be a top contributor long-term and if it really is true that TDS would rather kick rocks develop behind Api, then I agree he should be let go and spend the money elsewhere.

Especially with Galvin having left.

I understand why people are upset, the club is on a bad results run (again) and they want a dopamine injection from a feel-good signing or decision. But I also don't understand that people continue to forget that Tigers do most of their horse trading when select opportunities arise, not in and around the main market.

What I do trust is the focus on culture. I personally think Benji will actually be a good coach, I think he has the right combo of footy smarts and man-management of younger kids. I like what Benji says at press conferences and I believe what he says.

Right now we are still trying to build that correct roster. So tough for Richo and Benji to come in at the back of absolutely terrible performances, I mean I just don't understand what people really expected in 2025 after 3-straight wooden spoons. This is not to pardon bad performances, but personally I wanted to see a gradual upward trajectory and I didn't have mad expectations of playing finals footy.

I think we have handled recent recruitment much better than previous administrations. Richo is certainly good at getting bad contracts off the books. They do appear to be purchasing players who have the right team-first mentality. It doesn't help us at all that a key contributor decided to leave for purely selfish reasons, and if you took a first-choice half out of most any side they would struggle to maintain their performances.

So I think for 2025 we got a lot right - Luai, Turuva, Terrell May was a good pickup. Bird, Skelton and Hunt are fine, we locked in Makasini, we have locked in Bula and Api is likely to continue. No really bad purchases that we will need to clean up later. I think KPP is an under-rated signing. There will be other opportunities this year as team shuffle their rosters. The Fainu brothers are good.

I think they are doing the right thing about culture and I think that is the key to setting up a successful and mentally strong team. Despite Galvout and TDS being rated juniors, I don't think either of them necessarily suit the culture that Tigers require to become a more consistent team.

Never once said it was no chance. The Knights were shocking but they got their act together. It’s hard to defend 6 loses, likely 7, in a row.

What does “locked in” even mean these days 🤔

they’re without their two best players now too , I think everyone’s hoping titans stay diabolical they’ve had spoon city like us

Clinging to the idea that there is more to it is just cope at this point. How is it that we are only the club that has to deal with spoilt brat after spoiled brat? Just bad luck I guess.

That was our grand final

Put our all into that match and we still lost, nothing to be proud of there
The problem is that WT didn't put their all into that match. Namely this threads topic Tallyn was wasted warming up for 80 minutes, along with an interchange with the match there for the taking.

I will be surprised if he doesn't become one of the best nines within 2 years.

You act like I’m an island to myself. A lot of people see what I see. I’m far from alone.
We can all see what's going on, we are not blind, it's just most of us don't think whinging about it online a lot of the time is healthy or going to help.

Don't get me wrong, we all get pissed every now and again that's human nature, but it's healthy to try to keep it to a minimum.

What about TDS doesnt fit the culture? There was some feedback coming out of the club in preseason that he was outstanding. Leadship camp included. They wanted to re-sign him.

I can understand him wanting to sign elsewhere. I also can see why the club preferred Api. Tristan Hope as the back up for the rest of the year and possibly next is simply not good enough though. The squad, which is already shallow, now lacks even more depth in one of the only positions we actually had depth. There was no incentive that I can see for releasing Tallan this year, except hand-wavy reasons re culture.

We’re coming off 3 spoons, and could be heading for a 4th. Would you rather just hide from reality?
We improved our win percentage by 50% last year and I think we could again this year. That’s real life statistical proof of improvement. If we start going backwards I’ll stop thinking you’re being a sook.

I’m just talking about the state of the club. You’re the one swearing and name calling. Maybe projecting.
