Taumata or Lui

Well Payten has nominated Lui as the best half in the club so make of that what you will. Sounds like he's put in a big off-season and developing nicely in any event.

Lui was showing plenty of commitment in defence before he started carrying all those injuries. I remember in late 2008 and early 2009 his strong 1-on-1, head down, front on defence impressed me before his ability with the ball in hand.

Well that's the Payten K.O.D for Lui …....the last bloke he talked up pre-season as a half was Josh Lewis......

Oops! Hope his prediction for 2010 comes good then.

I'd rather Moltzen play fullback or centre and cover for AJ or Benji if there is an injury. Moltz is dangerous all over the park so I doubt we'd be losing out.

1\. Moltzen–---Tuqiri
2\. Tuiaki
3\. Ayshford ---Moltzen
4\. Lawrence
5\. Tuqiri ------ Ayshford
6\. Marshall
7\. Taumata

In the mix does not mean that you automatically get a run in first grade. He is recognised as a good player in the making hence he will be in the mix.

Yeah, it has to be Lui in halfback, despite how good Moltz went. It's the only combo of the 1,7 & 14 with Moltz, Lui and Taumata that makes any sense.

Might all change if Lote get's molded into a fullback. But can't see that happening while Tui is out.

I honestly hope that Lazarus trains the house down and gets an opportunity this year. That might give sheens a selection headache. I also think Taumata could make a great fullback given his size, skill and speed. Wouldn't be the first 5/8th to get molded into fullback.

I believe Moltzen is still the current front runner at halfback pending the Tuqiri signing.

If Tuqiri does not sign,
Moltzen will be the front runner for fullback.
Taumata will be in front of Lui as a half.
Lui to be used intermittently throughout the season.

I have only just realised how important this Tuqiri signing is to achieve my preferred Moltzen/Marshall half combination.

If Tuqiri does not sign with WT, we will likely see Moltzen at fullback, with either Taumata or Lui partnering up with Marshall which IMO is not the best half combination the club can put together.

I don't like this Tuqiri saga one bit. It is coming down to the crunch now and it has left a lot of players training their entire off season in certain key positions and still not knowing where they will play. This is a massive disruption to the 2010 preparation IMO whereas i would think most other coaches would be a lot closer to knowing who their fullback and halfback already are and one step ahead of Sheens.
Personally i don't think Sheens should've had an unsigned Tuqiri in the equation whilst preparing for the season. WT should wise up to why the ARU tore up Tuqiri's contract and realise some people are only in it for themselves..

Smart move by Sheens…giving all the hopefuls time training in positions they may have to play should injuries occur.....see how diferent combinations gel....what don't....Well done....

Moltz will be fullback n from wat i hear lui will be in the halves so im guessin taumata to be utility or BRET

A lot of it comes down to Tuqiri as we know, and this unfortunately has bearings on where Moltzen will play at the moment.

Well it sounds like Moltzen is training at fullback and Taumata at halfback so IF Lote signs with Wests then he might be on the wing. Especially now that Tuiaki could be out for quite a while and also Tupou is supposedly a forward now.

mate he might have to bide his time, if hes not coming till round 6, and we are on a roll winning games then he might have to wait for an injury to get his chance ?and rightly so.
